Communication- Bad or Good?

"That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. "(Philemon 1:6 KJV)

Bad communication or a negative relayed words can put a good and sweet relationship into a sour one. A bad communication system can distort the good words of a speaker. Bad and negative words will destroy relationships. Communication is important in business, in every relationship, in life, and with God. It can be bad, distorted, evil, positive or challenging. Unpleasant words in our process of communicating can cause integration and jeopardize our good public relations... and integrity.

Apostle Paul wants us to use our common way of communicating for a good purpose and for God. It should be for the ministry, to encourage our fellow believers and to strengthen the community of believers. We need to build up someone for Christ using all good means of communication. The great Apostle Paul wrote: "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." (Ephesians 4:29 KJV)

MI DAILY DEVOTION respectfully and lovingly dedicate Today's Devotion Time to the 44 Filipino Soldiers Killed in Mindanao, Philippines

MI DAILY DEVOTION respectfully and lovingly dedicate Today's Devotion time to the 44 Filipino soldiers killed in Mindanao, Philippines by the Islamic terrorists. Our prayers and hearts goes to all of you. God bless their Families. Condolences from me, my family, and the Mi Daily Devotion team.
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever." (Psalm 23:1- 6 KJV)

Are You Discourage?

"And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD hath given them?" (Numbers 32:7 King James Version)

Discouragement is universal. Everyone in every place and in every field of life went through it or will go through it. It's not normal for anyone not to get discourage because as long as we live a normal life, discouragement will always be a part of it. On the other side of the coin; its not normal for us to dwell in discouragement, because there is always a way out or a process and steps to take to be encouraged and be free from it.

Apostle Paul understand the feeling of being distress, much more of being discourage- he said; "Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:" (1 Thessalonians 3:7 KJV) Discouragement is one of the thing that I have to feel consciously, because if I don't feel it anymore for weeks or months; then I need to examine myself or search my heart. King David and Joshua knew what it means to be so discouraged because they've been there during their life time as leaders, fathers and husbands. God the Father said; "Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged." Prosperity and Failures

"If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures." (Job 36:11 King James Version)

Prosperity or failures will not make any difference in the sight of God because what matters to Him is our attitude in service. It will not make us a better Christian when we prosper if we are doing what we're doing for self interest instead for God's honor and glory. The Bible says; "Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant." (Psalms 35:27 KJV)

Our greatest failure in life is when we fail to put God in the center of our life and in His will. It's when we take the honor and the glory. We may be a failure in what we were doing in the sight of man and by the measure of its results; but if it's been done in His name with sincerity of hearts- it's a success and a blessing. Apostle Jude wrote; "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy," (Jude 1:24 KJV)- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Faith Can be Overwhelming Without Jesus in It

"For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:17 King James Version)

It's faith in faith or faith in men and human power or strength. If your faith is in the wrong object or person; then faith can be overwhelming. God wants us to exercise the Biblical and God centered faith. Faith can be deceiving if it's not based in the Word of God and if it's not from God. In Mark 5:25- 35- Jesus in this text healed the woman who had been sick for 12 years. What she did was true and real faith.

But notice the following verses: 35- 43: Jesus said; "... Be not afraid, only believe." How do you like to hear those Words when you get up in the morning with that greetings as fear gets into your minds. A man asked me about the progress and some updates about the mission of going to the Philippines and Cambodia. I said scary and I'm fearful. He asked "Why?" It scares me just to think of the huge amount of money needed. If fear try to gets in the way, it makes you worry of what could be the next step and how you can make this a success by professions of faith.

It's so easy to preach and talk about faith, but it's hard to put it into practice. It was not easy for Moses and Abraham to exercise their faith. (Hebrews 11) It cost them their lives, their job, and their positions or possessions. Faith- when we are in depressing, discouraging and dead end situation. Even if you have given your best, your talent, your all without faith in God; it's impossible indeed to please Him.
The Bible says; "But without faith it is impossible to please Him. It is impossible to please God..."- Ely Roque Sagansay

The Convenience of Worship, Giving, and Sacrifice for God

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1 King James Version)

Our church is meeting in a hotel every Sunday. The convenience of the environment all seasons, all year long. In giving- our church members can give cash, checks, money order, ATM or Visa card. The offering, the service and worship to God almost cost us nothing. The way we please and honor God sometimes does not even hurt us. Unfortunately, just like other Christian churches from the other side of my world; God is treated like a pain reliever.

Someone somewhere may have to walked miles just to get to the church for worship. Many people may wanted to offer something to God but their difficulties and economic situation prevented them; so their living sacrifice is all they have for which I believe is the best for God. What happened to Christianity? You have the answer- ask God to start it from your heart by giving your life and your heart to Him.

"And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver." (2 Samuel 24:24)

"And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost."- (1 Chronicles 21:24)- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Repent or Revenge?

"Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work." (Proverbs 24:29 King James Version)

Repent or revenge? To repent of our sins does not only involve our humility and being sorry for our sins to God, but also our humility and acceptance of our sins to the offended party or parties. To revenge would mean to put the situation and the issue in our hands and power. But to repent would mean to turn to God from our sins. And it is the Biblical step to get to heaven from where you are for those who have not come to know Jesus in a very personal way. If you don't have a personal relationship with Jesus- you need repentance and faith in Him.

You need to accept Him as your Savior and Lord. "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" (John 1:12 KJV) We need to put our trust in Jesus and on what He did on the cross more than 2,000 years ago. He died on the cross, He was buried and rose again the 3rd day. "3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles." We Are So Precious to God to Worry

"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" (Matthew 6:25- 26 King James Version)

We sometimes question the goodness and the will of God in our lives. And we do that when things are not going our way. When worries gets in the way; selfishness, wrong attitude towards God and people, and doubt will begin to sink in into our hearts and minds. Thus, wrong or bad decisions, lack of motivation and discouragement are some of the negative consequences or results of anxiety. Our attitude of dwelling in the worries of life displease God the Father.

Jesus gave us some of the day to day and practical occurrences in our own backyard. He used the birds of the air as an illustration when we are facing worries every day on almost everything. The word "Fowl" actually refers to the domesticated birds such as chicken, duck, turkey. We feed them to be our meat. Jesus promised to the faithful; "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." (Matthew 6:33- 34 KJV)- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Satan Can Look and Sound Like an Angel of Light

"Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft." (II Corinthians 11:23 King James Version)

"It's not because it feels good doing it, then it must be done already whether it's by hook or by crooks" Someone say that to me after hearing a preacher preached in a pastors and workers conference. Not everything or every ministry that's successful have the blessings and touch of God. It is not an assurance that a growing ministry is of God because the devil can do the same. Satan imitate the miracles of God through Moses in the book of Exodus. The enemy can dress up like an angel of light. (Matthew 7:20- 21 KJV)

God want us to be faithful and true. He does not require every Christian to be successful but to be fruitful. Don't get me wrong, always achieve and strive to succeed. (Joshua 1:8 KJV) But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." It's Always Good to Look Forward for a Win Day After Day...

"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." (I Thessalonians 5:18 King James Version)

"You have a good day" I heard it every day for several times. Do they really mean it or it's just a daily script for a good customer service? But whether it's scripted or not, the question is- did you have a good day today? At the end of the day, I would usually look back on the whole day that I have done and rejoice and be grateful to God of what I have accomplished for the day. Sometimes my days are not as fruitful and great as some other days.

But at the end of the day or as you start your day; be sure to look up to God and thank Him for the day that have passed or the day ahead of you. It's always good to look forward for a win day after day. Apostle Paul wrote; "
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. Faith That Changed Our Destiny

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (II Corinthians 5:17 King James Version)

We exercise faith every minute, every seconds, every day. When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior; we exercise faith that have changed our lives, our future and our destiny. We stepped out from the grave to glory. That was saving faith.

Accepting Christ as Lord and Savior of your life would meant that life will never be the same for you! And that little faith for the salvation of your soul will not end there, it was just the beginning. The beginning of something great in our lives.

The conversation of Jesus with Nicodemus which turned his life up side down.- "There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." Did You Feel the Fellowship?

"That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ." (I John 1:3 King James Version)

What is "Fellowship?"
Fellowship is like a triangle or like a love triangle. We fellowship with God in our prayer, in our personal and public devotion or Bible reading, and God make His abode or fellowship with us by the presence of the Holy Spirit. And we fellowship with each other at church, in our worship and in Bible studies or church functions. "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25 KJV)
How can we fellowship...? (John 1:3- 7)

What is the application of "fellowship with each other..." (I John 2: 3- 14) It means "Walking in love with God and with each other.

Did You See the Light?

"In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." (John 1:4- 5 King James Version)
God is Light here on earth and beyond. On the other side of the grave- there will be no darkness for those who come to the Light. Jesus is the Light and in Him there is no darkness at all. Jesus is not a light that we use when needed and He is not the light that will serve those who walk in darkness; He is the only Light of God for the darkened world of sin. (John 1:1- 14)

We can't fellowship with Him if we live in darkness? (John 1:3- 7) What does it mean by walking in the light? (I John 3:3- 7) Jesus said; "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:14- 16 KJV)

Did You See the "That(s)" in First John

"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;" (I John 1:1 King James Version)

  • "That you may have fellowship with us..." "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ." (1:3 KJV)
  • "That your joy may be full..." "And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full." (1:4 KJV)
  • " That you sin not." "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:" (2:1 KJV)
  • "That you may know that he have eternal life. "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." (5:13 KJV)

Study to be Quiet

"And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to
work with your own hands, as we commanded you; 12- That ye
may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may
have lack of nothing." (I Thessalonians 4:11- 12 King James
Version)

In other words meditate or be still with God in your heart and
mind. Let God work in us and in our quiet time with Him. Spend
time to be quiet with Jesus. A good listener (especially to the voice
of God) is a good learner. Listen carefully and attentively as God
speaks to you through His Word, through the preaching of His
Word and through the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said; "To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his
voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them,
and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. (John 10:3- 4

Starting Point of Obedience

(I Samuel 15:22- 24)

The question of where do we start to obey and to whom do we have to obey first and foremost are common questions to younger generation. The older people have learned a lot from their past that some of them can only look back and regret.

The starting point of our Obedience is when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. (John 1:12) We obey Him because we believe in Him, and we trust Him because we love Him. This may sound common or general, but we put this into practice in our every day practical living. We believe in our parents and obey them because we love them. We sacrificed for them serve them. We don’t listen to our voice, and to the voice of other people if we know it’s for our own good. we simply do what is Christ centered and in the Bible. (John 15:1- 11)- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Jesus Healed the Blind Man

(Mark 10:46- 52)
God has mountains of miracles for us, but he also performs miracles in the valleys, in the rivers, land and seas.
This is not only one of the greatest and suspenseful stories in the Bible or in the life of the disciples with Jesus here on earth. Jesus showed His disciples that He is the Lord of our bodies and life. He performed miracle with great power and glory. He showed them that He is in control and has the power over everything. The Lord can show His power without warning and man’s approval. He is God and He doesn’t need man’s approval. And He can show and manifest His power to those who are in danger, in distress and those who needs it.
The Bible says; "And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world." (John 6:10- 14 KJV)

Our Prayer for the New Year

But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.” (Psalm 69:13 King James Version)

We must pray without ceasing- means constantly. The longevity of our prayer is less important, but the sincerity of our hearts. How earnest and how do you pray is more important. Others are more conscious of their physical position when they pray or as they pray. God is more interested in our inside attitude than with our outside expressions in prayer.

Praying for a son. Hannah went up to the house of the Lord… and she wept. It was when Hannah was praying for a son. “And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat. 10- And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.” (I Samuel 1:7; 10 KJV)
Praying for salvation. "Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved." (Romans 10:1 KJV) Apostle Paul has a unique desires and requests to God. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; 10- Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.” (Romans 1: 9- 10 KJV)
As for King Solomon, he desired and prayed for sound wisdom. (II Chronicles 1:7- 12)- By Ely Roque Sagansay
