Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him." (Proverbs 31:1 KJV)

"Words" are amazing and it's something that we may use in light of the Word of God or something we use to destroy. Like gossip is sometimes use in replacement to slander or slanderous words. Inappropriate words may be used by people but they do not see its reflection and its end results which is open in the public eyes. It means the words you use will determine who you are from the inside. I hope the whole world will be more careful to use words that helps and comfort, not the other way around.

I heard this a lot of times-"There's a word for that". Yes, it might be the missing word or words, it could be misunderstood words, or the abused words. But in everything there is always a better word or other words for it. I believe the Words of the Lord Jesus Christ is very important and needed in this world of sin and darkness. Have you done your part to spread the Word of God? (Matthew 28:18- 20)-By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal," (Proverbs 30:1 KJV)

"Words" is a tool, a shield, an arm, a powerful but flexible material human used for good purpose or for evil. "Words" can be use as an evidence, defense or an encouragement. Every day we encounter bad words, words of wisdom or plain nonsense words. What other words can you say when you think of the word "Words"? I believe Moses' stuttering problem was a plus for him, at least he get to watch his words. (Exodus 4:10)

The words of Agur made an impact to his friends obviously. What words do you have in mind to say or write to your friends and families to help make this world a better place to live in? Do you process every words in your mind before you say or put them on papers? Your words reflects on you and what you have stored in your hearts and minds. Watch it! Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy." (Proverbs 29:1 KJV)

"Hardeneth his neck..." It may sound light and not so important issue, but it is very dangerous and may take lives, and destroy one's future. We are capable of obeying, following, and also rebelling in some point. The Israelites during the times of Moses were sometimes doing the good thing but they were not in the center of the will of God; I believe they were stiff neck. (Exodus 32:9; 33:3- 35; 34:9)

It always hurts to turn your neck on whichever side if you have stiff neck. The same way in our spiritual life; it always hurts to be rebuked and to be corrected of our sins. We all make mistakes, and get tempted but to stay and live in sins and to hardened our hearts- its dangerous and without remedy.-By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion." (Proverbs 28:1 KJV)

"The wicked..." It is a strange word even to many English speaking people when use in God's perspective or standard. It is strange word to some religious persons, and even to millions of Christians when use to point them of their standing in God,

"Wickedness" or "wicked" are the words that are not pleasant to believers who do not live it or turned from it, especially to God who is opposed to the practice of it. It is a way of life by everyone in the universe who is not in relationship with Lord Jesus Christ. My youngest son explained to me what "wicked" means in streets lingo (language), it means great, cool, nice, accepted, etc. It's definitely not for God, it's the opposite. The wicked person will not have a peaceful, good, calm, and great life in God. They are always on the run!-By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth." (Proverbs 27:1 KJV)

"Boast" means "to speak with exaggeration and excessive pride, especially about oneself." (Dictionary.reference.com) We can boast about God, in God and for God, and we can also boast about ourselves, but that could be unpleasant and selfish. We can boast of the past, but it's more unwise and we may sound conceited to boast of the future.

We don't know what lies ahead, therefore to boast of our tomorrow or the future is like a wishful thinking and a non sense dream. It's actually wishing upon the star. The only thing you get is the mindset that you have it. Our lives is like a vapor that appears for a little time and then it will go away. That's what apostle James said. Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out." (Proverbs 25:1 KJV)

I like the last phrase of this verse; "...which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out." It reminds me of this present time copying and posting, copying and pasting, copying and sharing. That's what they did in a very primitive way. It also reminds me of the comfort and the scope of coverage when you share someone else's work or postings. There is some issues when you use someone else's words especially if you need to work it out to make such your lifestyle.

It's so easy to copy the words but difficult to live up the good deeds. There is no sweat with copying these days unlike during Hezekiah's times, but it's never easy to live like them; speaking of their love for God and dedication in the work of the Lord. Well, to copy and make the good words public- there's no beating and hammering; but to practice and exercise its message in public and private is another story. Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them." (Proverbs 24:1 KJV)

I honestly get envious some times when I pass through movie theaters, restaurants, bars, stores, and sporting events on Sundays, and on regular days. Why? When you look at the parking spaces, it's always full, and you see expensive vehicles. What does it tells us? It means there a lot of people in the establishments. Its unfortunate to get to the church on that same day with few cars in it's parking space with a little bit of new and nice cars.

It breaks my heart to see the world's events and programs are prospering while it seems that many churches and ministries and religious programs are just surviving or existing without any progress at all. The best way to support and help the ministry is our presence first and foremost. It's one way of showing our love for God. Then our prayers, and other things may follow. May we desire to live for Christ, do things for Christ, and serve with the children of the King- free of envy.-By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:" (Proverbs 23:1 KJV)

"Consider diligently or observe carefully" are the words of wisdom to those who may take some big step forward or upward. Observe carefully and with caution as you may drop the opportunity or fail to see what's best for you. Sitting with the ruler is indeed intimidating, thus; we were advice to consider diligently.

It made me wonder why on the following phrase it says; "...consider diligently 'what' is before thee" it did not say 'who' is before thee since the first phrase talks about sitting with the ruler. The focus might have been the presentation, or what had been presented. It might be the issue of why (someone) was seated with the ruler. It is an honor to sit with the ruler- but always be careful and consider what is before you.-By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold." (Proverbs 22:1 KJV)

"Great riches" is considered by some as only material blessings. What is great riches? It may depend on the persons perspectives. Some make gold, silver, earthly things and treasures as their great riches. What are some of the things you claim as your great riches? We may not have other people's wealth, but we have riches that may be an envy in the eyes of others.

We were left with a decision between a good name and great riches. Zacchaeus made a choice. (Luke 19:1- 11) The rich young ruler made a choice. (Mark 10:17- 30) Nicodemus made a choice. (John 3:1- 7) Jesus warned us about the deceitfulness of riches. (Mark 4:19- 24)-By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will." (Proverbs 21:1 KJV)

"...the hand of the Lord." It's comforting but at the same time could also be sad for those who have been out of the will of God. I mean those who kick against the prick- Rebel against the Lord Jesus Christ. We may not know this but God has the pattern for each lives already, alright and ready in His disposal. Although the hand of the Lord is not short that it cannot save even the chief sinners. (Isaiah 59:1) The hand of the Lord could also be heavy to others whose life is on the opposite side. (I Samuel 5:6- 11)

May we put our trust in God in all our circumstances. Even in the hardest part of our lives- we can always trust God's hand to help us and at least go through it or overcome it by His grace. We must look up to Him and hold on to His hand. ( Proverbs 3:5- 6)-By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise." (Proverbs 20:1 KJV)

Is alcoholism and addiction to wine or liquor a disease? Is it a psychological or mental sickness or just part of human culture? Speaking from my personal experienced; it is indeed an addiction, and a temptation to non drinker that can be overcome by letting God take control of your life. You have to give your heart and life to Jesus and let Him wipe away your addiction; not just in wine but in all kinds of sinful things and lifestyle.

In 2005- alcohol was the 3rd killer in the USA. It's the cause of liver cancer and cirrhosis, heart attack, brain cancer, pancreatic cancer, and other abdominal problems. These are just the physical damaged it has caused to millions of people already. How about the low esteem, low self respect, low self confidence, low moral values, etc... Notice what the former alcoholic said regarding strong drink and wine; "Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts." (Proverbs 31:6 KJV)-By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool." (Proverbs 19:1 KJV)

"Perverse" or "Crooked" are being practiced by millions of people but not a well known words to many. Some people are practicing the perverse or crooked way of life, but they refused to be called by its words and true meanings. Peer pressure, the pride of being identified with someone influential or just being cool is more important than personal conviction or holiness and righteousness.

Be courageous to stand on your ground with integrity. A legacy that no amount of money can buy. If you have integrity, you can always look at the eyes of your children and the people's eyes with nothing to hide in the back of your mind. If a person is perverse or crooked- at the back of that eyeballs are hidden sin. The Word of God and Christ's forgiveness  is the resolution to a darkened world of sin. Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom." (Proverbs 18:1 KJV)

"Separated himself" or "Isolates himself" could either be for a good purpose or because of bad attitude or wrong reason. I remember when I was really sick and they can't figure out what kind of infection I had. They placed me on isolation. It was scary for me and my family.

In a Federal Prisons, any inmates who violates the rules or did something bad could lead to the inmates' isolation, and no one likes it inside the jail. It is at times good for them because they get to learn their lessons from that bad experienced, but it can also makes them crazy being alone in a dark small room.

For believers, it's sometimes needed and a must. It is good for Christians to sometimes be alone with God (Not in a dark room though)-praying and meditating in His holy Word. When was the last time you went into isolation with the Lord? "And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida." (Luke 9:10 KJV)-By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife." (Proverbs 17:1 KJV)

"Quietness" is the longing of every souls on earth. We have been longing to live a quiet life, whenever and wherever. Is there quietness in your home, in your relationship with your spouse, or friends and love ones? A peaceful soul is a quiet soul. If you have God, you have the peace of God. He gives peace to a quiet and a peaceful man.

You have to desire and delight in God to obtain or gain peace with God. It's the key to enjoy living a quiet and wholesome life. You also need to know Him (Jesus) as your Savior and Lord. The Bible says; "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." (Psalms 37:4 KJV)-By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD." (Proverbs 16:1 KJV)

"The tongue..." Does your tongue builds or destroy? Does it encourage friends, strangers and love ones or slanders even the innocent souls? A dentist friend of mine shared to me his knowledge about some of the dirties parts of our body, and he said tongue is one of them. No wonder anyone who will brush their teeth and missed brushing the tongue-breath may stink in a while.

In our spiritual life, we need hard brushing on some areas of our Christian life or in our walk with God. The saddest part is if we stink in our attitude, in our Bible reading, devotional and prayer life; and we don't even know it. (Proverbs 16:23- 24) Our tongue needs to be cleanse from cursing, lying and swearing or gossip. Our tongue is like a sharp arrow that breaks through into whatever it may hit. Search your heart and see if tongue is a problem. The Bible says; "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:" (Psalms 139:23 KJV)-By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands." (Proverbs 14:1 KJV)

"Every wise woman..." It's a commendation. It is an encouragement to many women around the world who have tried their best to be wise. These are the words that could make a wife or a mother proud and feel blessed if it comes from the lips of a loving and understanding husband. This can only be true if put into practiced by wise women around the world.

Every husband expect their wives to be wise in every area of their life. Although, some may not be bothered about such for some reasons. The wise counsel, Godly knowledge and wisdom, and the excellent ideas of women will mean nothing if men will not allow them to use it. (I hope husbands will encourage their wives). As the Bible says; "Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour." (Ecclesiastes 4:9 KJV)-By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke." (Proverbs 13:1 KJV)

In English Standard Version it says; "A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke." - (Proverbs 13:1)

According to FreeDictionary.Com; "scoffer - someone who jeers or mocks or treats something with contempt or calls out in derision.

Scoffer - someone who jeers or mocks or treats something with contempt or calls out in derision, flouter, jeerer, mocker, disagreeable person, unpleasant person - a person who is not pleasant or agreeable." (Thesaurus)

Children who have lost their respect to their parents or ignore their authority will just make fun, mocks, take their parents' wisdom and authority lightly. Counsel and advices are just a joke for them or crazy idea. The realization of the good counsel and wisdom of my parents to me are all past. It's something that I cannot take back. But I can start where I fell, and share their wisdom to my children, and younger generations. Will you be a scoffer or a learner and a follower? "Those who scoff will someday cough blood or take the handcuff..." It's either of the two or let go and let God!- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish." (Proverbs 12:1 KJV)

"Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge..." Notice the words "loveth instruction". Not a day to day words or not common words to many. It's not a modern perspective, or a new generation words. We don't expect the younger generation to use such words as their street words. We hear young people say; "Who cares about discipline or good and Godly instructions anyways!".

Some people would even hesitate to say; "I love you..." Bitterness, hate, rebellion, civil disturbance are more of a life style, and principles at home and in the streets than love in many parts of the world. But we were told to love instruction, and the fear of the Lord because it is the key to knowledge and wisdom. (Proverbs 1:7) The Bible says; "Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee." (Psalms 50:17 KJV)- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight." (Proverbs 11:1 KJV)

"Balance" is a word that may sound not really a big deal to some, but it can make us or break us. Balance in life can also make an impact in our lives. Be it in our spiritual life, or as we keep our balanced diet, in physical realm of life, in spiritual, and even as we balance our financial condition- the said word (Balance) will reveal its end result.

The word "balance" is good if "false" before it is omitted. Thus, "False Balance" is negative in every area of life. It is sinful to live an unbalanced life. Balance in life requires discipline, and discipline help us keep our balance. To keep our balance could also means right decisions.- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother." (Proverbs 10:1 KJV)

Many children pretends to be wise, but sadly, they're not. The worst thing that can happen in their life is their decisions at present time with devastating effect and consequences to their future. The youth and singles don't have any idea of the overwhelming responsibilities and duties of parents. They don't fully understand the love and care in every parents' heart. They may feel and notice such love and care, but not to the extent of knowing the inner feeling and compassion. Such love can be misunderstood and ignored.

The best way for children to make their parents feel glad is to be wise. How? It's by making Godly and right decisions. But obedience on the children's part is profitable for the whole family.- (Ephesians 6:1- 3)- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Let me give you the Lord's 5 greatest treasures freely given to sinful men: 1- Life in this world. 2- The love of God. 3- The salvation of our souls. 4- The Word of God- God's commandments. 5- And the Holy Spirit. The Bible sound repetitious if you noticed from the previous verses in the book of proverbs.

How do you treat or what's your attitude toward the Word of God or God's commandments? The Bible is the most neglected God given treasures for both Christians and non Christians alike. As believer of the Lord Jesus Christ; do you make the Lord's commandments a great treasure from God? It is imperative for us Christians to meditate and keep the Holy Scriptures in our hearts and in our lives. (II Timothy 3:15- 17)- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger," (Proverbs 6:1 KJV)

This verse seems to say something with CCTV. "If you have put up a security for your neighbor..." It is true with what we are seeing in terms of electronic devices like surveillance camera. But the verse was referring to someone who will take the responsibility for the other party's  loan, debt or duty.

The verse talks of the negative things many people may embrace which is not healthy and safe for your financial values, and moral responsibilities for the future. We must exercise what Jesus said; "Be wise as serpent and harmless as dove..."- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Wisdom of the Day from Mi Daily Devotion

"My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:" (Proverbs 5:1 KJV)

In chapter four verse one of proverbs, the writer has similar message to us- it is to be attentive and to understand. Wisdom, knowledge and understanding are the 3 of the  most important and priceless blessings to gain in life. These are some of the things that students of the Word overlooked or may have missed to take with them in their journey as Christians.

Sometimes the basis of success is not how good you were in your journey and endeavor to reach to your destination, but how you have used your knowledge, understanding, and God given wisdom. Are you in line with God's will and purpose or just traveling in your way and on your own wisdom? Give God the place so you could have His place. Give God your heart and mind so you could have His wisdom and understanding. (Proverbs 3:5- 6)- By Ely Roque Sagansay
