A Noble Son
“20- And he arose, and
came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him,
and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21- And the
son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and
am no more worthy to be called thy son. 22- But the father said to his
servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his
hand, and shoes on his feet:” (Luke 15: 20- 22 KJV)
“It was a remark
overheard in a street car, but it reminded us that there are honorable men in the
world. A young man said: “I am very particular about paying my fare. I took a
ticket home once when I was a small boy and showed it to my father, saying that
the conductor had not taken it, and that I was that much ahead. My father
looked at me and said that I had sold my honor for a nickel. That put a new
face on it. I always think of what he said when I am tempted to repeat the
offense.” If all fathers were training their sons in this way there would be
fewer dishonorable transactions in high places.” (Herald and Presbyter)
We
honor our father by giving honor to God the Father. We must be in tune with God
to be in tuned with men, especially with our parents. God don’t expect us to
live an excellent life, but He expects us to live an honorable life.
The Bible says’ “That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the
Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent
him.” (John5:23 KJV)

Abraham's Noble Act
“2- And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom
thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a
burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. 3- And
Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his
young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering,
and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.” (Genesis
22:2- 3 KJV)
God’s
Command- "Take thy son…” not thy bullocks and thy lambs or other
animals that was available at the time…
Go
and Offer- God told Abraham on the specific of his offering, and the
instructions was to “Go and Offer”. “thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest,”
Notice
the 2 important words: “only” and “lovest”. The hardest part for someone to
give up is when the family is involved. It’s not easy to give up your only son, and the one you love the most. But God gave us His one
and only Son. The Bible says; “For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.” (John 3:16 KJV)
God
the Father sacrificed His Son on the cross for the remission of our sins.
Abraham’s sacrifice was a picture of what God will do to us through the death
of His Son. It is a noble act and Biblical when we sacrifice for our family and
for the Lord’s sake.
Apostle
Paul wrote; “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all,
how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32 KJV)

He Did All These for You... What Have You Done for Him?
“For God so loved the
world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 KJV)
God spared not His Son. He
sacrificed, He suffered, He was in shame,
and Jesus took our sin on the cross...
Jesus did all these for you, and He died for our sins; what have you done for
Him? God Gave Us His One and Only Son; What Have You Offered Him or What Have
You Given Him?
Please read the whole chapter of Isaiah fifty three. In verses three
to five it says; “3- He is despised and
rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it
were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4- Surely he hath borne our
griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of
God, and afflicted. 5- But
he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the
chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Be at Your Best for God!
“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for
there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither
thou goest.” (Ecclesiastes 9:10 KJV)
What is God’s
plan for my life? Or what do I plan for my future? “What does God want me to
do?” The answer is clear; who are you and what do you have in your hands? God
wanted us to be at our best right now and not be worried of our future.
Jesus
did His best as a carpenter’s Son and a carpenter Himself. Be at your best as
you sing for the Lord. Do whatever you can as the Lord gifted you. Be at your
best as a wife, as a husband, as a sister or a brother… You may not be perfect
and the best, but God’s purpose and design for you is the best.
Moses used his
rod to be an instrument of God’s miracle. God used Gideon and Samson’s animal’s
jaw to display God’s miracle and power. You could be God’s miracle if you wait
in God’s time, and wait for Him patiently. Jesus wanted us to be in our best
whatever and whenever God is using us for His glory. We need to have a willing heart for God.
“17- And whatsoever ye
do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God
and the Father by him. 23- And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to
the Lord, and not unto men;” (Colossians 3:17; 23 KJV)

God's Will- Salvation
30- And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what
must I do to be saved? 31- And
they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy
house. (Acts 16:30- 31 KJV)
Rapture may come
at any time and we must be conscious of that. Why? Because many of our friends and
love ones need to know Christ and His will- salvation! Knowing the will of God as
Christians could make an impact to people’s life and in our walk with God.
I remember the
story in the book of Acts chapter nine. It’s about the life of Saul who became
Paul after his conversion. When Saul was on His way to Damascus, He asked
Jesus; “Lord, what do you want me to do…?” It’s like asking the Lord this
question; “Lord, what would be your will for me, or for my life?” That should
be our personal question; “What does God want me to do?” The answer to the
questions would be- God’s will for you is to be saved. But the decision is on
us!
Apostle Peter
message to every creation is very powerful when he wrote; “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men
count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance.” (II Peter 3:9)

Be Still and be Quiet!
“Be still, and
know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in
the earth.” (Psalms 46:11)
We must learn to
live a quiet life for God. We exercise to be in tune and meditate in the Spirit
with the Lord. And Christians must let God work and do the talking through His
Word and His Holy Spirit. “The hearing ear and the seeing eye, The LORD hath
made both of them.” (Proverbs 20:12) Dr. Chuck Swindoll (Growing Strong in the
Season of Life, page 62) said: “Two ears. Two eyes. Only one mouth. May that
should tell us something.”
Let me encourage
you to be a good listener, especially to the voice of God as God speaks to you
through His Word, through the preachers, and through the voice of the Holy
Spirit. Jesus told His disciples in the book of Mark chapter six verse thirty
one; “31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place,
and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure
so much as to eat.” We need to find time to be alone with the Lord and
have a quiet time with Him or be still.
The psalmist
said; “Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from
me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come
forth.” (Psalm 88:8)

God Forgave the Ruthless Sinner Like...
“6-To
the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the
beloved. 7- In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of
sins, according to the riches of his grace;” (Ephesians 1: 6- 7 KJV)
Apostle
Paul claimed the position no one would dare, and want to admit or proudly declare
to the world- “Chief among sinners”. But the Lord by His grace and rich in
mercy opened the door of forgiveness to everyone through the Lord Jesus Christ.
God forgave Moses who killed an Egyptian. God forgave King David when he
committed adultery with Bathsheba and killed Uriah to cover up his sins. (II
Samuel 11: 1- 27) God can forgive the chief among sinners. He can and will
forgive you too. Be it a weakness, a moral issue, God’s blood can cleanse us, and will washed away our sins. Apostle John said; “Behold the Lamb of God,
which taketh away the sin of the world.”
Apostle Paul was
ruthless, merciless, and was a murderer and persecutor of Christians, but God
forgave him. God can do the same to you if you will ask Him to forgive you. You
have to humbly come to God in repentance. The Bible says; “8- If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us. 9-If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John
1:8- 9 KJV)

We are the Temple of the Holy Spirit
“12- That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from
the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having
no hope, and without God in the world:” (Ephesians 2:12 KJV)
The
moment we choose to accept the offer of God for our salvation; it was the same time
we belong to Christ and His church. It was not during our first communion or when
we had our baby baptism or confirmation. We were aliens in the kingdom of God
before we were born again. Even the Jews- the chosen people of God were alien
or stranger as a nation in the family of God. Matthew Henry wrote; “It is no
small privilege to be placed in the church of Christ, and to share with the
members of it in the advantages peculiar to it.” Jesus Christ himself is the chief corner-stone and the head of the
church. Through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ both Jews and
Gentiles were made one church and family. We were called the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are a
holy society, and we belong to a holy community here on earth and in heaven.
Therefore we are expected to live a holy life, and our life must be in tune with
God in Christ! Let us be the shining light of this darkened world.
Apostle
Paul wrote; “21- In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an
holy temple in the Lord: 22- In whom ye also are builded together for an
habitation of God through the Spirit.” (Ephesians
2:21- 22 KJV)
