Mi Daily Devotion

(John 3:36) “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” People sometimes will think that when you preach about hell, you’re actually scaring them so they will accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. Is it an issue of scaring and converting them in Christian religion or beliefs when you talk about hell? Hell in the Bible is not a symbol or a picture of something in relation to earthly pain or suffering. (Mark 9:45- 47; Luke 16:19- 31) Do you believe that Jesus gave us a good picture of hell in His preaching? Is hell a punishment to the wicked and to those who will reject the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? Did you know that forgiveness, love, care, peace, joy and rest are not familiar words in hell? In hell, there will be no more family, no more worship, no more singing, no chance and second chances; because hell is a place of no more about God’s perspective. It’s the opposite of heaven. But in heaven; there will be no more hate, no more war and rumors of war, no more sorrow and pain, no more bills to pay and no more tears, hunger and thirst. (Matthew 10:28) 28- And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

(I Peter 5:8- 9) “8- Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9- Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”
No one wants to be a loser, discouraged, distressed, disillusioned, disturbed, depressed and defeated. Satan is a defeated foe and he wants us to join him. But God has a different purpose for each and every one of us Christians. Satan will never win; therefore as the children of God, the children of the King of kings and Lord of lords; God will not let us live a defeated life. Don’t let discouragement put you down? Will you let the devil pull you down? Are you going to let Satan use discouragement to keep you away from God? Keep your eyes on Jesus and don’t be swayed by your feelings, by the devil’s deceitful acts and by the devil’s tricks. Hold on to God and His Word and never give up or give in to trials and extremities in life! The Bible said; “28- And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 31- What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32- He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:28; 31-32)

(I Samuel 30:6) “6- And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” A wrong attitude toward God when you’re discouraged is fatal. I believe David did the right thing when he just wept, shout and cried hard before he took a moved in spite of what happened to his people and family. Making any minor or major decisions when you’re discouraged may cause you to take the wrong side. Make sure you are in line with God’s Word and God’s will in spite of discouragement. Do you try to be of good courage in spite of discouragement? (Joshua 1:8- 9) “…Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Do you recognize God as the one who can fight for you and carry you through? (Deuteronomy 1:29- 30) Did you lost sight of what God can do for you and your situations? (Joshua 1:7) Are you afraid of your trials, problems or enemy? “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” (Isaiah 41:10)  Read your Bible and pray until you’re encouraged and challenged... “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

(Psalm 69:1- 3) “1- To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. 2- I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. 3- I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.” You are going through family problems, conflicts, discouragement and disappointment. You don’t want to dwell in that situation, but what’s your step in coming out of it? According to National Institute of Mental Health; suicide is the seventh leading cause of death among men and sixteenth on women. (www.nimh.nih.gov). Problems with violence, physical and sexual abused may not be an issue in the family; but you may have some personal, financial or spiritual issues. Where or who do you turn to when you have family problems, when you get discouraged or when you are disappointed? Do you turn to sex, to drugs, to wine or you trust the Lord and turn it over to His abounding grace?  God will be there for you to help you and sustain you. King David prayed; “13- But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation. 16- Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.” (Psalm 69:13; 16)

(Numbers 14:2- 3) “2- And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! 3- And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? Were it not better for us to return into Egypt?” People have the same problems even from the time of Moses – negative outlook in life. Are you a Christians or a leader who struggle with negative environment? Are you praying, thinking planning and looking forward to a project with a positive attitude? How do you see your mountain and valleys? Are you a person who wants a very clear revelation from heaven before you make a decision or you just jump into a project? Do you take the risks and do something different for the glory of God? Do you take the responsibility if it fails and give commendation to your team if it succeeds? It happened during the time of Moses and it’s still happening today. (Numbers 14:8- 9) “8- If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. 9- Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.”

(I Samuel 30:6) “6- And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” What drives people into a different mood? Do you have a negative or positive mind set? Do you have a negative or positive attitude? Do you believe that there are dangers in our Christian life? Did you know that what we have stored in our hearts and sub-conscious can spark in a second; and it could cause us to react negatively based on what we have stored in our hearts and minds? Are you discourage, depress, distressed, or down…? The Lord said; “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Joshua 1:9) What do you think would be your reaction or personal instinct if you were in Joshua or King David’s situation? You are dealing with death, problems, fear, suppression, criticism, and oppression… We must remember that the Lord will not give us trials, sufferings and problems to discourage us, to destroy us or cause us to get depress; but to help us. (Deuteronomy 1:21) “21- Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.”

(Titus 2:13) “13- Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14- Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” “Looking” according to Webster’s Dictionary means “To direct the eye so as to see; To gaze; To expect; To appear; To see; To express by a look.” Hope means according to Webster’s Dictionary is “a desire of some good, accompanied with a belief that it is attainable.” I don’t know what your definition of hope and looking. But you cannot deny the feelings, the urge and the desire of our heart to look forward and to hope. Do you express your duty to God and your love for Him in obedience and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ? We owe God our belief and our acknowledgment of His holiness, His nature and the faith and hope that we have in Him. The Lord looks down on us and He is preparing for his coming; we ought to look up to Him with expectation of our blessed hope. We need to express our love, and our fear to God knowing that He is our only hope. Jesus said; “1- Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2- In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:1- 2)

(Psalms 147:11) “11- The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.” Hope in God while serving Him as King of kings. In our service to the King; we have hope in Him alone. We serve Him with great expectation and we can always place that expectation in His hands. Someone said; “Expect something great from God and do something great for God.” Do you have hope in God our Savior? Did you dare or tried to do something great for God? (Ephesians 1:18- 19) Do you always expect God to work in you and through you? Our expectation, exhortation and example should shade hope to the hopeless and should encourage others. Did you let everybody know that there is hope and that hope is just a prayer away from where they are right now? Did you pray and trust God for your daily needs? We are living in a generation where people wanted everything instant including hope and God’s provision. But God wants to teach us patient. The Bible says; “The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 26- It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.” (Lamentations 3:24, 26)

(Titus 1:1) “1- Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;” Notice the introduction of the book… “Paul… an apostle of Jesus Christ…,” Paul was a saved man, he was a servant of God, he was separated from sin unto God, and he was sanctified. (Colossians 1:1; Ephesians 1:1) Was he (Paul) proud, arrogant or boastful of his title as an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ? What do you think of his credentials?  Were Paul’s credentials questionable or unquestionable in some sense? It was the Lord Jesus Christ Himself who ordained him a preacher of the gospel. (Acts 9:1-9) Does it make any difference as compared to other apostles and preachers of this present time? Paul was a preacher for Christ, a servant of God and a man of God. (Titus 1:1; I Timothy 1:2) He calls Timothy his own son, because Paul was instrumental on Timothy’s conversion. Did you know that every Christians or believers of the Lord Jesus Christ were born in the family of God? But we must be aware of our calling that we were called to serve and we were commanded by the Lord to “GO”. “But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, (II Timothy 2:10)

II Timothy 1:9 “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,” We can discover and be certain of the promise that we have in Christ Jesus our Lord. We have all the reasons to believe in the hope of eternal life. Do you have the hope of eternal life which is in Christ Jesus? Is your life filled with God’s grace, mercy and the Love of the Lord Jesus Christ? Do you have the peace of God? Jesus Christ and the free gift of eternal life are God’s general blessings for the lost world. We can have God’s salvation through the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. But you have to decide and receive by faith through Christ. You entrust your life to Jesus our Savior; He is the author of the heaven made religion. “Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.” (Isaiah 28:16) “According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11- For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (I Corinthians 3:10-11)

(Genesis 13:9- 11)
“10- And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. 11- Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.” Do you stand firm and Biblical on moral issues? How do you deal with your family and your personal lifestyle as a Christian? Are you on the negative side of the wings or a liberal Christian in terms of your Biblical belief? Lot messed up his family, his life and his future. (Genesis 19:8- 9) “8- Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. 9- And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.”

“5- And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. 6- And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.” (Genesis 13:5- 6) How many homes and families that are being destroyed for the love of money and power? Is there anything wrong with wealth and power? It’s the love of money and power that brings down a home, a church and organizations. Abram came back and brought with him his wealth again to Canaan. He was very open to temptation due to his vast wealth. Are true riches a burden or a blessing? Are you burdened in accumulating them or is it the fear of losing them? Is it the fear of keeping them or the temptation in over using them? True wealth is in God, from God and it’s of God and must be for God and His glory! “9-But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10- For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” (I Timothy 6:9-10)

“8- And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.” (Genesis 13: 8) The conflict of Abraham and Lot which made them separate their ways. As a family and were from the same genealogy, with the same flesh and blood did not prevent them from having differences. They were God’s children, next door neighbors, and were related; but they submitted themselves to conflict and personal interest. Could it be because of pride? Was Lot arrogant and he did not even know it? Could it be because of jealousy between their servants and herdmen? Do you think envy played a big role in their conflict? In general, I believe sin, selfishness and Satan has a big part to any conflict in churches, at homes or Christian organizations. What do you think; were they more concern of poverty, prosperity or of their own power and wealth? Abraham did exactly what was right and fair. Actually, Abraham made the right decision and he made the right and good judgment by letting Lot go with his blessings. “9- Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.” (Genesis 13:9)

“6- And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.” (Genesis 12:9-10) Abraham and Lot both know what it means to be poor and needy and to live in poverty. There are those who were humbled by the Lord through success that God has given them and the blessings of prosperity. So what could be the reasons of their strife and separation? Insecurity could be one of the factors of their strife and their servants and herdmen’s strife. It is “The Prevalent Sin” in churches, among pastors, organizations and even businesses. I don’t know how it would look like if Christians work together in the same cause and with the same spirit. (Psalms 133:1-3) Accountability is the other factor of their strife and their follower’s strife. If they both have accountability, they (Abraham and Lot) could have known what was going on from down – up. “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” (Proverbs 11:14)

(II Timothy 3:1) “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.” According to Apostle Paul; We are all living in perilous times. We cannot deny the fact of dangers in every corner of our lives. Do you have fear because of what’s going on in the world? Does living in a wealthy environment, in a luxurious hotel, beautiful places and close to a military base or police station make you feel safer? Did you know that you can be in physical or spiritual sickness, financial insolvent or accident and death; any time and any where? Although as God’s children we have His protection; we can be in the wrong side of the track which could lead to a very dangerous situation. Apostle Paul used the words, “…that in the last days perilous times shall come.” “The last days” covers from Paul’s day right on until the Lord comes in the air, the 7 years tribulation, until the day He comes to rule the earth for a thousand years. Did you know that as pastors or missionaries; we may be in danger of losing our passion for the lost souls, losing our passion to preach the Word of God, and losing our tears as in the pulpit? We lost our passion to touch and influence lives. We may just go with the flow and don’t even know it. Notice the consistency of the passion of Paul to the people during his times; “Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.” (Acts 20:31)

Proverbs 27:17- “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”18:24- “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”17:17- “A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” we should maintain our love, trust, understanding and being open and available to our friends and brethren. The worst thing that can happen is when you lost a friend because of minor issues. There are issues or personal conflict that you can just sleep over with or settle them over a cup of coffee.
“A true friend is a helper when you’re helpless,
A true friend is a hope when you’re hopeless,
A true friend is a wall to lean on when you’re alone and the one whom you can lean on when no one is there for you…
A true friend is a shoulder to cry on when comfort is gone… and betrayal is imminent.
A true friend is a present help in time of trouble;
A true friend is a bed to lie on when the day is done and your sleep is gone;
A friend is a friend no matter what and no matter where… A friend will always be a friend.” ElyRS
My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,” (Proverbs 6:1)
