MI Daily Devotion: Have You Been Tried and Tested?

MI Daily Devotion: Have You Been Tried and Tested?: “12- Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13- But ...

Have You Been Tried and Tested?

“12- Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13- But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.” (I Peter 4:12- 13 KJV)

Today’s trials and temptations could be caused by personal undesirable decisions in life. What you may have been going through could be because of the people’s bad decisions or judgment. It could be an outcome of set of events in your life. Or it may have been because of the devil’s ways and means of destroying you. If it’s from the Lord, then you have the Lord’s blessings. Apostle Peter warned us not to be in this scenario and position. We must rejoice not because we were tried; but because we become partakers of Christ’s sufferings. And also we have a promised from God of His exceeding joy.

Life can be complicated, and sometimes events in life and people around us are undesirable; but Apostle Peter advised us to stay in the Lord’s direction and keep our eyes on Him. At the end of the day, it’s all about God, and it’s for His purpose and glory anyways.

Apostle Peter wrote; “15- But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. 16- Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.” (I Peter 4:15- 16 KJV)

MI Daily Devotion: The Imagination of Our Hearts

The Imagination of Our Hearts

“And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:” (Deuteronomy 29:19 KJV)

Jesus said, “The abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” The Lord who know the intention of our hearts and He hears our hearts and minds before we say a word.

Maxwell Maltz said; “For imagination sets the goal ‘picture’ which our automatic mechanism works on. We act, or fail to act, not because of ‘will’, as is so commonly believed, but because of imagination.” Grace Speare said; “When you think something, you think in pictures. You don’t think a thought in words. You think a picture a picture that expresses your thought. Working with this picture will produce it into your experience.” We are saying and doing what we have stored 18’ (inches) from the top of our head which is our heart. It’s from our heart and we picture it in our mind, and the last thing we know; either we’re saying it or doing it already.

The Bible says; “17- They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you. 18- For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?” (Jeremiah 23:17- 18 KJV)

ASK- Ask, Seek, Knock

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” (Jeremiah 33:3 KJV)

Christians must be in touch with God in earnest prayer both consistently and religiously. Apostle Paul put it this way; “Pray without ceasing.” Prayer is our means of communication as we channel our concern and care unto the throne of heaven.

Our greatest responsibility and duty to God is to call unto Him. Why worry when you’re just a prayer away. You will either put down your knees in prayer to God or God will humble you in His way. Jesus said; “7- Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

One of the struggles of many churches and Christians is the lack of prayer, and sin or wicked ways! We want God’s special touch, but we don’t want our knees to touch the floor as we humble ourselves in prayer. The Bible says; “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (II Chronicles 7:14)

The Holy Bible- Our Spiritual Food

“5- And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. 6- The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: 7- The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. 8- The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” (Isaiah 40: 5- 8 KJV)

Abraham Lincoln once said; “I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from the Savior is communicated to us through this Book.”The Word of God is the only source of food for our soul. The spiritual food for the nourishment of an empty heart, spirit and soul.

Mr. William Lyon Phelps is a former professor at Yale University said; “I believe a knowledge of the Bible without a college course is more valuable than a college course without a Bible.” Our daily goal must be to gain spiritual dependence on God’s Word for daily Christian living.

The psalmist wrote; “7- I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments. 8- I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly. 9-BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.” (Psalms 119:7- 9 KJV)

God's Revelation- His Glory!

“1- To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork. 2- Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge.” (Psalm 19:1- 2 KJV)

God revealed Himself through the Bible, through His Son- the Lord Jesus Christ, in our conscience, through His creations and His glory!

Matthew Henry wrote; “From the things that are seen every day by all the world the psalmist, in these verses, leads us to the consideration of the invisible things of God, whose being appears incontestably evident and whose glory shines transcendently bright in the visible heavens, the structure and beauty of them, and the order and influence of the heavenly bodies. This instance of the divine power serves not only to show the folly of atheists, who see there is a heaven and yet say, "There is no God,’’ who see the effect and yet say, "There is no cause,’’ but to show the folly of idolaters also, and the vanity of their imagination, who, though the heavens declare the glory of God, yet gave that glory to the lights of heaven which those very lights directed them to give to God only, the Father of lights.” (The Bible Collection)

“1- To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. 1- To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.” (Psalm 14:1; 53:1 KJV)

Love and God is Inseparable

“7- Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8- He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” (I John 4:7- 8 KJV)

Indeed, Love and God is Inseparable
If you have God, you will definitely have love… The absence of God is the presence of hate.

“To love abundantly is to live abundantly, and to love forever is to live forever.”

“On the last analysis, then, love is life. Love never faileth and life never faileth so long as there is love.” Henry Drummond

“Love is the only gold.” Alfred Lord Tennyson

“Love is all we have.” Euripides

What’s happening in the world of hate is because of the world’s rejection of God’s love.

“17- But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?” 18- My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” (I John 3:17- 18 KJV)

Mr. Rick Sollars on
Junior League World Series 2013

This year’s Junior League World Series here in Heritage Park, Taylor, Michigan was fantastic. It is one of the best years we have in terms of representations, the competitiveness with sportsmanship, and the great spirit of volunteerism. We were visited by great players and coaches from North America, and all over the world. Although the scheduled games were interrupted and was delayed by rain showers, it’s good the organizers, the players, and coaches were able to work it out to their comfort and get everything done right on time.
I watched the players from different teams with the same motivation, and determination to win, and step up to the next level. These baseball players could be one of the best Major League players of our generation as they keep on developing their skills, and be serious with their practices, training, and as long as they would be determined to reach their goal and dreams.
During the championship game between the Tennessee and Arizona teams, I had the honor and privileged to interview the Independent candidate for Mayor of Taylor- Mr. Rick Sollars. It was encouraging to be with Mr. Sollars as he shared to me his vision and dreams for Taylor, Michigan. I asked Mr. Sollars about his assessment of this year’s Junior League, and his insight about the future of Taylor, Michigan. The transcript of my interview with Independent Mayoralty Candidate- Rick Sollars.

Ely: Mr. Sollars, What is your personal assessment on this year’s Junior League World Series?

Sollars: I've been out here, the rain hurts us a little bit, the teams seems very competitive. It does seem that the international teams have a bit of advantage this year over the teams of the United States. (There's) some very good teams, some great kids, the Junior League World Series were in our 33rd year, and it's only been held in Taylor which is something where we were extremely proud of... but the overall assessment is that, it has always a very exciting and it's a great opportunity for the city of Taylor to really embrace something special. No one else can say that we've been home to a Little League (type) World Series, other than the city of Taylor for this type of venue.

Ely- Considering that the city of Taylor is just a small city compared to...

Sollars: Yes, like the Williams Sports for example… Williams sports is 12 years old already, they played their Little League World Series, and that’s a much larger community, the city of Taylor is much more smaller, and we do a very good job, and considering that this is all run by volunteers, and there’s very little involvement or actual involvement from the city of Taylor.

Ely: What are the improvement do you think the city of Taylor needs to take to make the Junior League World Series here a World Class venue?

Sollars: It’s my vision that the city of Taylor should be a better partner, you know. We as I just indicated; this is basically run by volunteers, and well, that’s simply amazing that you have this many volunteers come together, and pull something together like this... The city of Taylor really should get behind this in a bigger way. We simply don’t want to lose this opportunity; this is the jewel of the Downriver Community to have… This held in Heritage Park. And while the field looks great from the surface, there are some real challenges coming forward… When Williams Sports comes and grade us every year, and they will look at this and say; “Ok, we have recommendations that needs to be made…” and quiet honest there are some things like the fencing that needs to be addressed; well that’s not the things that you are going to see and notice like a score board. There are things that’s necessary for us to maintain this and keep this in Taylor. And you mention “World Class”; there’s truly is a world class opportunity, but the city of Taylor does need play a bigger part on it. One of the most disappointing things part for me as I came out of here; we did not even have this posted on the marquee out on the Sheridan Center Marquee. That really disappointed me because this venue needs to be, you know… We the city needs to be behind this venue and tell everybody about it. This is an opportunity for Downriver Community all across Downriver to come out and support this. You can hear the crowd cheering in the background, and we need to bring in more people into this venue. We need to really make this a major attraction and we’ll do that moving forward. It will be a big part of… (you know), I want to get behind this… personally, I’ve always supported it through my business, through my own means; but I would like to see the city play a bigger role in it.

Ely: I did not see any welcome sign or banner regarding the World Series on Major roads and Freeways?

Sollars: Yes, those are the kind of things that you would like to see. We have these flags out in Telegraph road that may be, we could do some welcome to the “Home of the Junior League World Series”. We passed the proclamation that this week will be called the “Junior League World Series Week” from here and out… for in the city of Taylor; well that’s great, but if you’re going to be a world class, you got to start doing a lot of things different. We really need to embrace this… This is an opportunity that not a lot of community can say that they have.

Ely: As an Independent candidate for Mayor of Taylor, what do you have in mind if you’ll make it this coming election?

Sollars: Let me take you back there on your “World Class” comment, Taylor is a community that…, we have a lot of amenities to offer that a lot of other cities don’t. We have 2 major thoroughfares that run through the city of Taylor- I- 94 and I- 75. From the business world, that’s a major attraction. We are a couple of miles from a metro airport. We have I- 275, and that’s a few miles down the road. You know, we really need to embrace the business environment, and try to get more businesses coming to Taylor; stimulate the economy, it create jobs, it creates opportunity, and most of all it creates an excitement and energy that (you know), Taylor has some happening things… that some exciting things. And you know, that’s really the initial focus of on the economic development side, (you know) trying to get partners coming to the city of Taylor again. And you know, stabilizing our public safety as well, you know public safety has been just critically affected over the last three and half years, and we really need to stabilize that and start rebuilding our police and fire. The “Are you safe…?” question should never come into play you know if you’re in the city of Taylor. We need to do better than what we have done.

Ely: So what’s your first priority when you become the Mayor of the city of Taylor?

Sollars: The first thing that I need to do is to find out how quickly we can (you know)… see if there’s an extension for the safer grant, you know, we’ve missed some valuable opportunities once that grant was awarded, and we really need to see if we can get an extension to really capitalize on the two opportunities within the Fire Department. Then, we need to look at… possibly hiring some new PSO or some new Police Officers in the police department, and we need to get those numbers up. On any given Friday or Saturday nights, we only have 4 patrolmen that patrol the entire city of Taylor; that’s not safe for anybody including the residents or the officers themselves. So the public safety is the immediate focus, we have to hone in on that. And then, we are going to grow into economic development. And (you know), looking at some volunteerism opportunities, (you know) I think that looking at, at what we’ve done with the Taylor Reading Core, and how we’ve gone into the Taylor schools, and produced this Tutor opportunities where we’re tutoring kids pre- school to 3rd grade. Those are things, and programs that we need to continuously expand out. Farmers market, Taylor conservatory- those are great things that cost almost nothing, and they’re really a benefit for the residence of this community.

Ely: We are doing great on education, Is there any plans on sports?

Sollars: Taylor is always been- it’s strength in athletics is always been baseball; we have four Little Leagues in this community, and we have roughly 2,000 kids that participate in those four Little Leagues. We don’t really have… what we have like the Sports Flex currently, and its home for Hockey and Soccer. But, we really try to create some opportunities, and may be do some baseball types of program in there. At one point of time few years ago, Jeff Jones who is the pitching coach for the Detroit Tigers, and Steve Avery who is a former Taylor resident, and a former Major League professional baseball pitcher; they all have the interest in bringing a baseball training facilities into the Sport Flex. Those are the programs that we really need to pursue. Because while the Sports Flex are great, there’s only about 200 hockey families in the city of Taylor, and we spent 26 million dollars on that facility. We need to find a way to allow more residents to benefit from that, and (you know) we can do that through some of the baseball, and expanding in through some other opportunities. So, I love to continue to see the athletic drive, and I like to see some of the football programs come back, and even today, we don’t even have Taylor hockey anymore. We need to bring that program back, and find some ways to continue to grow.

Ely: Last election, you have a big margin against your opponents…

Sollars: You know, I think the current Mayor, he captured 38% of the vote, and the other opponent he got roughly 17% and I secured the remaining amount. I think, what that tells me is that the residents of this community are ready for change. You know, I’m not big on making excuses, and you know I understand exactly what it is that it takes to be a leader. And we’ve heard over the last three and a half years that it always somebody else’s fault. You know, quiet honestly, sometimes when you’re blaming or pointing the finger, you need to stand in the mirror, because it really as a leader you have to accept the responsibility that we’re going to fix it, we’re going to solve it. You know, we have to be a positive type group, and we have to find solutions and not excuses. And quiet honestly, I think that the margin tells me that any incumbent that only get 38% of the vote it tells me that the residents are ready for a change. I’m thrilled, and honored, and humbled that I was the highest vote getter. And I will continue to work, and take nothing for granted. And between now and general election, I’ll still (you know) maintain that hard work environment and go out knock doors, and engage with the residents. You know, my strength is sitting down and talking to people. And you know that’s something that I do truly enjoy doing as well so we have more of that for the next three months.

Ely: Any words for the winner of the 2013 Junior League World Series?

Sollars: You know for the winners, (you know) obviously it’s something that they simply have to be extremely proud of. You know they come out on top of an International venue like this where you’re playing all the best athletes in this age brackets, it’s amazing. But more importantly, to the teams that weren’t victorious or weren’t successful; (you know) they have to maintain a level of pride as well; they made it here. This is the highest stage in their category, and they should not hang (down) their head. They should leave here with their head held high and proud of their accomplishments. And (the) Michael Jordan the famous basketball player; he attributes his success to his many failures. You know, you simply as young athletes, they have to learn from this, (you know) build on it. And quiet honestly though, it’s a great experience, and again they’ve played in the biggest stage in this age group, they should be proud of that, and win or lose, they should absolutely be proud of that.

Ely: Thank you so much for your time Mr. Rick Sollars.

Sollars: No! Thank you very much for the opportunity, again were really excited about the upcoming election and there’s a lot of good things that are going (to) start happening in the city of Taylor. Thank you!

The Power of His Blood!

The blood of Jesus… It has power to raise us up from the grave. The shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ has the power to redeem us from the bondage of law and sin. It has the power to make us righteous before God. I hope and pray that this daily devotion will be a blessing to you as it is to me as I ponder on the Word of God.

The Bible says; “4- For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. 5- Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6- In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. 7- Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. 8- Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; 9- Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. 10- By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11- And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12- But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13- From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.” (Hebrews 10: 4- 13)

God's Goodness and Mercy Will Follow...

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. (Psalms 23:5, 6 KJV)

During King David's time and I don't know if they're still doing this because our world has changed. And the world's cultures and traditions has changed as well. But when King David penned this part of Psalms, he was talking and using an analogy on how the Jewish people welcomes their guests. And God has His way of welcoming His children, and David was talking about it in these verses. Not only that God's goodness and mercy will follow while we're here on earth; but until we get into the other side of this life- the life to come in heaven.

We don't have to chase the Lord's goodness and mercy as His children, it will follow us. If you are a child of God you are an heir- joint heir with Christ. You will have the kingdom of heaven. (Romans 8:14- 18)

Let Go, Let God, and Let's Go...

“7- And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land. 8- And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.” (Genesis 13: 7- 8)

Abraham and Lot’s problems were minor problems, but Abraham was so smart that he did not let their little issues go unresolved. When I took a seminar to be a security officer here in Michigan; one of the things that I have learned was about prevention. Fire prevention and prevention against robbery, murders, accidents and other tragedies and man- made calamities. And Abraham did exactly what was right and fair. Actually, Abraham made the right decision and made the right and good judgment. He resolved the issues before it went from bad to worst. I hope and pray that we will do the same. Did he (Abraham) let go of the problem, let go of sin or let go of Lot his nephew? We can let go of our problems and people who are pain in our back by letting God take care of everything.

“9- Is not the whole land before thee? Separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.” (Genesis 13: 9)

Junior League World Series Taylor, Michigan (Kent and Linda Waller’s Love and Passion for Baseball)

Junior League World Series in Taylor, Michigan is something big the city is hosting every year. This is an Annual baseball competition of kids from North America and other parts of the world. It becomes inviting for baseball fans from the other side of the world to come and witness this great event. It resonates on a couple from California who moved to Georgia; (It could be because they wanted to be closer to Taylor, Michigan for the World Series). Kent and Lynda Waller have been coming here for the baseball game since 2006. Their story unfolded when I met them, and when they started to show kindness to me- a stranger in their life. I was taking pictures at the bleacher during one of the games as one of the Media photographer with the blessing of Mr. Dave Gorgon; the gentleman in charge of Media, and Social Media of Junior League World Series. It was when Kent and Lynda offered me their seats so I could take good pictures. Our friendship started by their good deeds and good attitude. We started to talk and started sharing about our experiences here in Taylor, Michigan and during the baseball games.

I was surprised to learn from this nice and great couple of their passion and love for baseball. Prior to coming here in Taylor, Michigan for JLWS from 2006, Kent and Lynda used to go to Williams Sports, in a Major League Training Camp, and in many Major baseball games. I don’t know if it was a Divine plan, but I believe it was God’s step of taking them to visit their friends and relatives so I could meet them too. They patronize the Junior World Series League from that time on... As some may say; “And the rest is history…” Kent said; “Baseball here is better played, the crowd is much smaller, enjoyable and it’s pure baseball.” No wonder they drive about 2,500 miles from Northern California in Grass Valley with their motor home just for the game. They’ve done this for 7 years until they moved to Georgia. They only missed the game last 2009 when Kent’s mom was ill which unfortunately leads to her death. Kent and Lynda spent $2,000 dollars just for the gas for their round trip drive. They parked their motor home at the Wayne County Fairgrounds, and then they drive to Heritage Park in Taylor to watch baseball. They refused to elaborate and get into the details of their expenses; but they said it’s a good amount of money. I made an assumption of about $3,000 to $5,000 US dollars altogether.

Kent and Lynda were expressive of the developments, and improvements that were made in the game, the park, and the Series as a whole. Mr. Kent said; “One of the perks aside from enjoying the improvements of the games of the kids are meeting people from all over the United States, and meeting people from the other side of the world with different languages and cultures. One of the best times we have here was when the Philippines were here and we talked to the Philippine team.” And I agree, truly it was the best games, and the loudest crowd I have witnessed in this event. Mr. Waller added; “By the way, I was told by one of the parents that he wanted to have one of his 3 sons to be the first professional World Leaguer from the Philippines which is not impossible because his children were so good.” I’m positive about it and I believe one of those children who works hard and train hard will someday be in a Major League. Kent said; “We have seen great plays and great games since we first came here in the League. A lot of close games too.” Kent was so impressed with the championship game with Florida and Aruba with 12 to 10- Florida the 2012 Junior League World Series. I can tell that it was the best games due to the words I heard from friends and players. He shared to me that the game between Hawaii and the Philippines was also a great game in 2007. Kent and Lynda who used to be a huge baseball Major League fans switched to Junior League since that first visit in 2006 here in Heritage Park in Taylor. He said; “No money involved, no politics, just good baseball games, and the children gets to play!” Kent and Lynda have been to baseball series (Women’s, College and Little Leagues) in Portland, Oregon, Kalamazoo and other cities in the United States and Canada; but now they kept their presence in Taylor, Michigan. Kent pressed on; “As long as we can, we will…” They spend thousands of dollars in their 8 days of stay here for gas, food, camp grounds fees, and other expenses just for this special event.

They appreciate the people, the improvements on the grounds, and the technologies in the baseball field, especially the public restrooms. The couple said they will recommend this to their friends and relatives. As a matter of fact, they have their friends Tony and Linda Ciccone who have been coming here since the first day of the World Series. They will recommend the foods, the generous restaurants, and the place to visit and to be in anytime of the year. Kent and Linda said the people in Taylor are friendly. They made a good commendation to the host city, to the people who works in the field, and to the announcer, but was a little bit on the left side of the wings in terms of the promotional, and advertisement side of the World Series. They said; “Only 1 welcome sign since 2006. And there’s no banner regarding the baseball game along major thoroughfares like Telegraph road.” This could be a good message and positive critique to the organizers and the city of Taylor. Mister and Mrs. Kent Waller said; “We were surprised that they do not tell this in the news, or evening news or local newspaper, and promote this well…” Indeed, I did not see this advertised along Telegraph road, I- 94, I- 75 or I-275 freeways. I interviewed Independent candidate for Mayor of Taylor- Rick Sollars during the championship game between Tennessee and Arizona baseball teams. Mr. Sollars made a similar comments but with a different perspective, and a great or unique outlook and vision for the city and Junior League World Series. We will talk more about it soon… Congratulations to Arizona and to Taiwan teams for winning the championships (All American, International). August 17, 2013 at 2:00 PM will be the Championship game between Taiwan and Arizona.

MI Daily Devotion: King David’s Prayer

MI Daily Devotion: King David’s Prayer: “1- To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. ...

King David’s Prayer

“1- To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. 2- Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. 3- For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.” (Psalm 31:1- 3)

David prayed with humility and trust in God. He expressed his strong desire to be out of shame and sin. He prayed in detail and with focus.

Matthew Henry wrote; “Faith and prayer must go together. He that believes, let his pray— I believe, therefore I have spoken: and he that prays, let him believe, for the prayer of faith is the prevailing prayer. We have both here. I. David, in distress, is very earnest with God in prayer for succour and relief. This eases a burdened spirit, fetches in promised mercies, and wonderfully supports and comforts the soul in the expectation of them.” (The Bible Collection)

Jesus encouraged His disciples when He told them to pray with faith in their hearts. He said; For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” (Mark 11:23)

God is on the Top

"There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." (Joshua 1:5 KJV)

At the end of the day, God will always be there on the top of your career, on the top of your life, on the top of your success and will always be on the top of everything . He is even on the top of your circumstances and your enemy- the devil.

I love the encouraging words of God to Joshua after the death of Moses. "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." (Joshua 1: 9 KJV)

He Cares...

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." (1 Peter 5:7 KJV)

Unload your burden into the throne of God's grace. Share your care and concern to God. Drop your problems, and burden by prayer and by faith in God.  It means you cast you're care upon God and never pick it up again, let God carry it for you.

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22 KJV)

The World is in the Dark

“20- And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22- Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23- All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

Man’s non sense idea’s, evil deeds and empty words all comes from the heart. We are living in a generation where wrong becomes right and right becomes wrong. Perverseness is rampant and it’s accepted in many countries including the United States. This can only be countered by standing for what is right and by the Word of God.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

Propitiation for Our Sins

“25- Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26- To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”(Romans 3:25- 26)

Propitiation means the act of propitiating or appeasing a god, spirit, or person. Atonement, especially that of Christ” (Google) Matthew Henry wrote; The doctrine of his gospel, and the comforts of his Spirit, are very refreshing to them, and they rest in his love; none of all the delights of sense are comparable to the spiritual pleasure they have in meditating on Christ and enjoying him. There is a complicated sweetness in Christ and an abundance of it; there is a bundle of myrrh and a cluster of camphire. We are not straitened in him whom there is all fulness. The word translated camphire is copher, the same word that signifies atonement or propitiation. Christ is a cluster of merit and righteousness to all believers; therefore he is dear to them because he is the propitiation for their sins.” (The Bible Collection,)  Jesus is the one who appeased God through His death and no one else.

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” (I John 2:2)

Worship God Alone

"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another; and so much more, as ye see the day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25)

We express our love for God when we worship Him. We love God, we desire His presence, and we give reverence to His holy name. Worship is expressed in many forms, in different ways, and it is an expression of our heart, in our body, and in our mind. If you love God, you will not be ashamed of Him. You will express your love to God in as many ways as possible. It could be in giving or good stewardship, in songs and praises or in our love and sacrifices. "Love the Lord your God with all your soul, and with all your mind and with all your strength." (Mark 12:30)

"This is love for God: to obey his commands, And his commands are not burdensome," (I John 5:3)

Acronym for Hypocrites

"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward." (Matthew 6:5)

Hypocrites could be at church, they can be in Hollywood, at work, in school or at home. We may have slept with the hypocrites, eat with them, and work with them or for them. Dictionary.com's definition of hypocrites- "A person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc..." Acronym for Hypocrites:

Hypocrites:
Yield to Sin
Play with Sin
Overcame by Sin
Controlled by Sin
Ruined by Sin
Irrational to Sin
Tamed by Sin
Enslaved by Sin
Selfish. Self Centered, and Showy

"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." (Matthew 7:5)

Your Bodies are the Members of Christ...

“15- Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16- What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17- But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18- Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19- What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20- For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” (I Corinthians 6:15- 19)

The Lord Jesus Christ honored our whole being by giving His life for us. We must not abuse our bodies by sin, and make our bodies look vile and stained by our daily habitual sins that displeased our Lord. Instead, we should make a vessel that honors our Lord. The day we came to Christ for cleansing through His shed blood on the cross of Calvary, Jesus made a union with us through His Holy Spirit and made us one- one in Him.

Apostle Paul wrote; “Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” (Philippians 3:21)

Do You Have Fear?

“And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.”
(Matthew 8:26)

We are living by faith in the mercy and grace of God. We cannot deny the fact of our faith in God, but it’s also because of His grace, and mercy that we were saved and serve Him. Jesus asked His disciples;“Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?” Here are some of the bad results in having fear in your life. Fear can make you worry about everything, fear can make you irrational, fear is one of the main cause of why people are disturbed, fear make us get discourage easily, and will definitely destroy us. Matthew Henry wrote; “It intimates how pleasing it is to Christ, and of how much concern it is to ourselves, that we should live without carefulness. It is the repeated command of the Lord Jesus to his disciples, that they should not divide and pull in pieces their own minds with care about the world.” (The Bible Collections)

Jesus said; “25- Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?(Matthew 6:25- 34)

Growth is Possible

1- Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, all evil speakings, 2- As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: (I Peter 2:1- 2)

We share the Word of God to the lost world, and when they accept Christ; they will be saved and be born again. It's our responsibility to help the newborn babes in Christ to grow in His grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Growth is only possible if there is life, proper cultivation, proper or good nutrition, and liquid intake. You cannot force growth in physical, spiritual, and the numerical development of your congregation; but you can be a part of it or reinforce its growth.

Apostle Peter said; "18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." (II Peter 3:18)

The Lord's Hands is Upon the Children of Israel

“ 11- In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.” (Zechariah 12:11)

It will be a great and glorious day for the people of God when they see the hands of God working in their behalf. We have here the day of God’s deliverance, the power and protection for Israel, the city of David- the chosen people of God. The power of Satan, and his followers here on earth as represented by the nations who stand against God, and His people will be destroyed. We have witnessed the hands of God, and His protection to Israel from the Old Testament times during the time of Esther, the killings of Herod the king, and the persecution of the church. The Lord’s protection, and power was evident during the 1967 seven days war. And we have read on the internet or newspapers, and witnessed it on television how God worked for them which is undeniable.

The Lord God said to Abraham; "2- And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3- And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." (Genesis 12:1- 2)

What is "Eternal Life" Anyways?

"10- He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11- And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12- He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." (I John 5:10- 12 KJV)

Have you ever asked that question before? Or did someone asked you that question before? My own definition of "Eternal Life" as what I've answered to some of those who asked me is- "A place in heaven with Jesus, and a time where we will be with Him forever and ever. It is a place of peace, of love, of joy, of true satisfaction, of fulfillment, and of hope." But you have to believe in Him to get there.

The Bible says; "13- These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. "  (I John 5:13 KJV)

The Promise of Eternal Life and Eternal Damnation

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." (John 3:36)

Jesus in the Scriptures promise us both eternal life and eternal damnation. (John 3:16, Romans 6:23) It may sound odd or peculiar to many, and it may sound great to some; but the most important thing is the love of God to the sinful humanity. It is the assurance of eternal life in heaven to those who humbly come to God in repentance, by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and put their trust in Him. It will be the eternal damnation to those who reject the offer of God. The decision is yours.

Jesus is the only answer to our sin problem. The Bible says; "15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many." (Romans 5:15)
