Words Are Cheap

Words Are Cheap

"And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform." (Romans 4:21 King James Version)

On my first week in California years ago, a friend of mine warned me not to take seriously every promise a person would tell me... And he said; "Ely, remember words are cheap" it is true to those who don't have the "Word of Honor". Or to those who don't honor their words.

There are those who promised of doing negative things or of revenge and it did not happen (Praise God), and there are those who promised of positive things or good things with the same results (Too Bad). It's either they were not serious about it or was hindered by circumstances. But the Lord is way different from us. He is able to perform what He promised from hundred of years ago. Imagine if God would do differently from what He said in His Word- The Holy Bible. This world would totally be in chaos, hopelessness, and misery. It means everything in this world will never be right! And there will be no hope, salvation, forgiveness and blessings for us. Apostle Peter says; "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." A Decision In His Mercy and His Grace

"I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;" (Deuteronomy 30:15-17 KIng James Version)

The Lord opened the door for us to choose life or death, evil or good. The decision is in our power. We can process such in our head, from our hearts, to our tongue or actions. We may have a split of a second decision with a lifetime or eternal results. We may love the Lord and walk in His ways or go the opposite direction. Keep His Word and live righteously. The blessings will follow to those who follow Him. And we will see our promised land if we learn to walk in the path of blessings. It is a promised from generation to generations.

We do not deserve what God have set before us. Even the choice between life and death, good and evil, blessings or cursing are all by His mercy and grace. The Bible says; "Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord." (1 Timothy 1:2 KJV)- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Live, Believe, and Serve

"17- Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. 19- But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state." (Philippians 2:17, 19 KJV)

No one will live and not have to go through sorrow or pain. We will always have to go through something that will shape or reshape our lives. All of us will someday be a victim or a victors. A lot of those around us may have been through to a situation where we never even been in.

Paul and Epaphroditus suffered with sickness, problems, and persecution as they lived their lives, when they believed in God and served Him faithfully. We need to have a positive attitude and believe in God and in ourselves. Apostle Paul, Timothy and Epaphroditus were not selfish when they showed their unselfish service to God and for the brethren. They lived, believed and served God. The Bible says; "20- For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. 21- For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's." Freedom is Not Free

"And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born." (Acts 22:28 King James Version)

Starting February 25 until sometimes the last day of the month, the Philippines is celebrating the "February Revolution". It was the time when the People's Power toppled the power driven government of the then president Ferdinand E. Marcos. Many have concluded that the 1986 February EDSA Revolution was the end of dictatorship with its new gained freedom!

Only God can put a price tag on true freedom. Freedom is not cheap; be it in the tribe, on the most dangerous prison on earth, or freedom from heaven. It will always costs someone to attain freedom. A lady was interviewed in the show of "The Kelly File" at Fox News said; "There's not a price on freedom. You can't buy freedom, and it's me now- but tomorrow it's going to be you. You've got to wake up". And that's even more conservative in her view, perspective and belief on freedom.

The word "Freedom" is one of the priceless or costliest words in our modern dictionary. It costs God the Father His One and only Son to die on the cross for our sins. (John 3:16) The Holy Bible has the answer for any question regarding freedom. But notice here the Words of the Lord Jesus Christ; "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." When Blessings Becomes a Burden

"Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:" (Genesis 49:25 King James Version)
This phrase "When Blessings Becomes a Burden" may be difficult to comprehend in a 3rd world countries or for people who live in poverty. But to many rich nations and wealthy people; they are true if you are talking about material blessings. Some of the homes and garages in the USA are filled with material things that they don't really need and want, but it's been sitting there for years- a burden. (Deuteronomy 28:2)
We must be more concern and focus on spiritual blessings instead of material blessings. Notice the words of Apostle Paul; "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:" (Ephesians 1:3 KJV)- By Ely Roque Sagansay

The 3 "LETs" Code EPH428-32KJV

The 3 "LETs" Code EPH428-32KJV

"Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." (Ephesians 4:28- 32 King James Version)

Here are the 3 "LETs" in the book of Ephesians 4:28- 32:

1- "Let him that stole steal no more:" Verse 28.

2- "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth..." Verses 29- 30.

3- "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking..." Verses 31- 32.- By Ely Roque Sagansay

The Blessings of Faithfully Planting and Reaping

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." (Galatians 6:7-9 King James Version)

This is God's principle from the Bible. "Sowing and Reaping" applies to individual, groups, organizations and the church. It's similar to "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you" principle. Or "Do not do unto others that which you don't want others will do unto you" philosophy. This is true in our giving to the Lord as well as in our charitable works for our fellow men. The church that sows the seeds of the Word of God will reap the abundance of the fruit thereof. The negative side- the evil deeds that we've done to others will bear the same fruit someday, it means we will reap what we sow.

The Lord will not close His eyes to those who are faithfully giving their lives, their resources, and their strenght. And He will not close His eyes either to those who practiced evil, dishonesty, unfaithfulness, to greediness and selfishness. God is a just God, He is the same yesterday, today, and for eternity. (Hebrews 13:8 KJV) Jesus said; "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." "For I Am Not Ashamed of the Gospel..."

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,[e] just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” (Romans 1:16- 17 King James Version)

Apostle Paul gave us the core values and a Christian faith to exercise and practice in our daily Christian life- not be ashame of God and His Word. Be a witness of His grace and mercy to the dying world. Our good and positive testimony may serve as a message and a living Word to the lost world. May we be God's ambassadors, God's messengers and servants of the King of kings, willing to spread the good news and freedom in Christ.
Peter's good advice for every believer; "15- For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: 16- As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God." (1 Peter 2:15, 16 KJV)- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Love Triangle in Marriage

“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2- And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.” (Ephesians 5:1- 2 King James Version)

We have greater purpose in unity of marriage. Sex and the physical unity of the couple as husband and wife are not just some of the factors and elements of marriage. It is not just about our relationship as husband and wife, but our relationship with God. Marriage is a love triangle. Yes, it is always a love triangle with God and your spouse. A relationship so different from the people's mind set. The Foundation is from above- God is the only Foundation. He is the One who created marriage and He was the One Who first instituted marriage in the garden of Eden. Picture in your mind a triangle every time you think of your marriage. With God on the top and the husband on the right side of the triangle and the wife on the left side. The bottom side of the triangle would be the Holy Bible as the foundation of your home. You may let the Holy Spirit dwell in your home by letting Him in inside your triangle. Few years ago I wrote a song about family with this idea.

The Bible says; "26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground. 27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” (Genesis 1:26- 28 KJV)- By Ely Roque Sagansay

The Relationship That Works

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;” (Ephesians 5:25 King James Version)

Is your relationship with your spouse more important to you? Do you have an urgency to keep the relationship or make it more sweeter? What are the necessary steps for you to do to help your relationship stronger and geared to God and His Word? Are your priorities concerning relationship and family in the center of God's will? Is it next to God or not at all? Those are the questions that the opposite sexes which are in relationship before marriage and the married couples can answer.

God must be our highest goal when we express and give our unconditional love to our spouse. The price of love and time for God and family are not cheap. You have to pay the price of unconditional love for God to be able to love a wayward son or daughter; or you will end up in hate, bitterness of soul and anger... This may also applies to every relationships existing in any parts of the world.

God knows that husbands will always have problems with their wives and vice versa. The 2 common problems of husbands to their wives are “submission and obedience.” It's the same problems we have as the church of Christ? The key to make it work are; sacrifice your own principles, give in to your personal desire/s, spend your time for God and family and get out from your comfort zone. The need to be submissive and obedient to God, His Word and His will must not be set aside and be covered up by the things and pleasures of this world. The Lord's command- "love your neighbors..." especially those who are under our roof. “And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.” (Luke 10:27 KJV) By Ely Roque Sagansay

He Mends the Broken Spirit

Love Mends the Broken Spirit

"For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off." (Psalm 37:29 King James Version)

When we are going through storms in life, our humanistic tendency is to long for love and care. The disciples accused Jesus for not caring that they will perish in the midst of the storm. (Mark 4:35- 42) It may have been an exaggeration on the disciples’ part, but it’s happening to many Christians as well as we go through tough times in life. Sometimes we get distracted from the problems when our eyes are focused on our emptiness, and the people around us, if they really care or love us.

King David wrote; “1-Maschil of David; A Prayer when he was in the cave. I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication. 2- I poured out my complaint before him; I showed before him my trouble. 3- When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me. 4- I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.” (Psalm 142:1- 4 KJV)- By Ely Roque Sagansay

Love in Our Homes

"1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. 3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. 4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. 5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate." (Psalm 127:1- 5 KJV)

When my children were growing up; we have a theme songs in our home. It was "Love Will Be Our Home" and "Together We Will Stand". Now that they're all grown ups except for my 15 years old, we changed our theme songs to "I Don't Know Why You Say Goodbye I Say Hello". Sometimes when we come home they're about to leave, and vice versa. Most of the time we just communicate electronically, and every parents must be ready for that.

When my children were little, they were our captives. They were captives because they can't go anywhere without us, we have to drive them to their appointments or schools. They also has to come with us because they can't stay at home by themselves. And we enjoyed being with them even in my Bible studies, visitations, preaching appointments and church, etc. And it's good because we get to know them, spend time with them, make them feel we love them, and influence them with our Biblical principles and faith. But now they have their own time, family and life to run. But we know that if we (I and my wife) will stand  before the presence of God- we know we've done our best and what's best for them and we've led them to the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. They have the truth. Remember, your family is your only treasure here on earth that God will honor. God started the home in the garden of Eden.- By Ely Roque Sagansay

We are All Ministers of the Lord Jesus Christ

We are All Ministers of the Lord Jesus Christ

Read Joshua 24:14- 31

We are all ministers of the Lord Jesus Christ. Wikipedia's definition of a minister; "In Christian churches, a minister is someone who is authorized by a church or religious organization to perform functions such as teaching of beliefs; leading services such as weddings, baptisms or funerals; or otherwise providing spiritual guidance to the community. The term is taken from Latin minister "servant, attendant", which itself was derived from minus "less".[1]"

The ministers are the servers or servants. Lawn tennis is my favorite sports. In tennis, to keep the game going, someone has to serve for the game to play. But when you serve, you have to serve and be determined to win. You want to hit an Ace in your first service as much as possible.

We were not called to salvation to just sit to worship at church and pray. It's all good and recommendable; but we were saved to serve God in the ministries. In Philippians 2:1- 10- the Lord Jesus Christ came down in obedience to God the Father and to serve His (God the Father) purpose for Him and His plan for humanity. Start it today- obey and serve Him faithfully.

National Prayer Breakfast

This morning I woke up at 1:30 AM with 2 nightmares. The first one is the burning alive of the Jordanian pilot by the ISIS MUSLIM TERRORISTS. And the second nightmare was the speech of Mr. Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast. This president said; "And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place – remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” Christians were and still are persecuted, slaughtered, scourged, etc. The Bible is filled of stories of how the Jews and Christians were treated like animals and slaves. The books of Esther, Nehemiah, Ezra, Daniel, Acts, Hebrews, and other books in the Bible and secular history books recorded the evil fate of Christians in the hands of those who opposed their Christian faith.

Jesus and the whole Bible (Old and New Testament) never mentioned of hate, killings or murders or severe persecution as the punishment of Christians to the unbelievers, and to those who oppose and disagree to their faith and practice. God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ teach love, forgiveness, good relationship and fellowship for one another in the Scriptures. Christianity was rooted in love- love for God and that same love must be shared and spread abroad to our neighbors, friends and even enemy or enemies like the ISIS. Retribution and vengeance is out of the context in Christianity, and it's love for God and fellow men. The president was wrong and bias on his outlook to the Christian faith. May his speech writer/s will do (their) homework to avoid friction and division in the religious arena. Mr. Obama said; "Christians did terrible things too..." No! Christians are out there sharing the love of God like what the Samaritan's Purse and Dr.Billy Graham are doing. God bless your heart Mr. president Barack Obama.

The Bed Undefiled

"Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge." (Hebrews 13:4 King James Version)

What is "Bed Undefiled"? It's a question a liberal soul will not care about. This may sound very conservative to many, but sex in love has its own time. It's not the fulfillment of the flesh and its lusts, it's the desire to be pure and stay pure. Bed Undefiled means not to give in to sex for self satisfaction or gratification. Pre- marital sex as it's commonly known is one of the cause of many relationships that don't stay long or worst; don't make it to the church's altar or in a legal binding- marriage of a man and a woman.

A woman who wants to be respected by her future spouse must respect herself first and foremost by not giving in to her boyfriend's selfish and fleshly desire on sex before marriage. Love is patient... Be pure, stay pure, and live in purity with integrity and dignity. (I Timothy 4:12) It is always great to look at your future children's eyes, and you can say at the back of your head that you have kept the faith, and you have the purity until marriage by the grace of God. The Bible says; "The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity." (1 Timothy 5:2 KJV) - By Ely Roque Sagansay

"Thou shalt not kill."

In (Exodus 20:13 King James Version) it says; "Thou shalt not kill..." It is one of the 10 Commandments given to Moses by God to be exercise by every human beings. We are living in a different times and world from the day it was given, but it does not changed and it has not changed. But why do we still see people killing their fellow men like animals? And why do we still witness murders and senseless killings?

Apostle Paul said; "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come..." (2 Timothy 3:1- 7 KJV) It's unfortunate that people kills in the name of god or gods and religion. If you remember the massacre of the cultist- Jim Jones. It was November 18, 1978 in Guyana, South America. Unfortunately, 912 people died from drinking the poison, gunned down or killed by knives. The People's Temple in Jonestown compound was supposed to be a place for religious practices, but it became the starting point of a deathbed to almost a thousand followers including a congressman. And millions of people are following the wrong path- the way to death here or hereafter. The Bible says; "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8 KJV) -By Ely Roque Sagansay

"For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another." (1 John 3:11 KJV)

I Corinthians 15:1- 7- The gospel, the Word of God, the message, the preaching and Bible teachings does not changed. Only the means, the presentation, the deliveries, the people who share it, and the people who heard it. A lot of people take their words so lightly that they tend to say one thing but do the opposite. Others preaches religion, peace, love and good works but they live and they walk in a different direction. There is no in between or a little bit of darkness and a little bit of light for God. The Bible says; "This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." (1 John 1:5 KJV)

Jesus Did Not Say "You May" But "You Will..."

"And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee." (Exodus 23:31 King James Version)

When someone told me; "You may not..."; it does not mean everything was closed already and there is no more possibilities for me. The devil will not tell me "I may not have miracles from God because..." Those words can prove that I can have miracles, because of the word "may" on it. If the devil wants to discourage me and give me doubt; he will tell me; "You can't have miracles from God because..."

I may not be able to cross the Red Sea and walk in a dry land with the chosen people of God; but I can cross over the ocean and fly for the people of God. I may not be able to walk in the water; but I will always walk with Jesus- the Living Water. I may not be able to witness the miracle of 5 bread and 2 fishes, and how Jesus fed more than 5,000 hungry crowd. But I've witnessed the Bread of Life feeding the crowd with the preaching of His Word and give them eternal life in heaven. The Bible says; "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." (John 6:35 KJV)- By Ely Roque Sagansay
