Jesus is the Shepherd

“11- I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. 14- I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.” (John 10:11- 14 KJV)

The Lord’s life was pictured on David’s life. David was a shepherd, but he called the Lord his “Good Shepherd…” We have the Shepherd walking and leading us to His way, His will, His work, and His word. Jesus is the good Shepherd who will walk with us as we walk in the valley of the shadow of death, and even in death itself. When David confronted Goliath; he knew he has the guidance of the Shepherd. It was the same experienced for Joseph who was helped by God from pit to become the Prime Minister of Egypt. Jesus is the good Shepherd of the New Testament. The decision of Joseph when he followed the Lord’s Word by being with Mary the mother of Jesus in the flesh means a trust in the good Shepherd.

Jesus is your good Shepherd when you were in your deepest moment, and when you were in need of wisdom and guidance. Will you trust the Shepherd of your soul? King David as the powerful individual during his times recognized the Lord as His good Shepherd. He said; “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. 2- He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” (Psalm 23:1- 2 KJV)

Gowns or Crowns?

Gowns or Crowns?

"And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away." (1 Peter 5:4 KJV)

Paul Lee Tan wrote; "Gowns or Crowns- Some years ago there appeared one day in the same daily paper two accounts, one of an American woman who had just spent $70,000 for Paris Dresses; and the other of a woman, a beautiful Christian character, who, being questioned in a legal matter, modestly admitted that she has given many millions of her estate to various righteous causes. "Well," as someone remarked. "It is a matter of taste- Paris gowns or heavenly crowns." (Paul Lee Tan Encyclopedia of 7,700 Illustrations)

For every Christians who have the assurance of salvation, it will not be just the hope of eternal life in heaven; but we need to look forward for a crown. We can't have the crown in His presence unless we are willing to wear His robe of suffering, and pain. Follow Him in obedience and faith.

"Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." (Revelation 2:10 KJV)

The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ

And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.” (John 3:13 KJV)

Jesus came down from heaven. He is the Son of man, but He is in control of everything. As human being, there’s no way we can come down from heaven once we’re up there without the Lord’s intervention. And there’s no way a person can get out of hell without the Lord’s hand either.

In the Old Testament, the Lord Jesus Christ was pictured through the life of Joseph. Joseph was Jacob’s beloved son, but his life is a picture of what has to come. He was beloved of a father. In John 3:16 it says; “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” But in the book of Genesis 37:3 it says; “Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.” Also compare Matthew 3:17.

Before God the Father talked about Jesus as His beloved Son in the New Testament, He was already talking about Him (Jesus) in the Old Testament through Joseph’s life. It means you can see Jesus’ life in the life of Joseph, and in the prophets’ life in the Old Testament. We can see Jesus in the evils that they went through... We can see Jesus in their sufferings, in their darkest moments. And even Joseph’s betrayal. He was betrayed by his own brother when they sold him to the merchants. Jesus was betrayed by Judas and Peter and was sold by Judas for 30 pieces of silver. It’s just so amazing how God put the Bible together (Old Testament and New Testament) with Jesus His Son at the center of it. Can you make Jesus the center of your life?

The Bible says; “14- And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15- That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:14- 15 KJV)
