01- 05- 11 MI DAILY DEVOTION (Psalm 119:75)
GOD IS FAITHFUL EVEN IN HIS CHASTISEMENT TO US AND IN FORGIVING US OF OUR SINS
“I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.”
God’s chastisement to the believers is not a bad sign; it’s actually a good sign. It’s not like you’re going into a cross fire with God when you’re being chastised by Him. He would not be called a just and Holy God if He will just close His eyes, even when we are going into the wrong direction. But, because God is faithful, He put His hands on us when we’re living in sin as the children of a Holy God. As for me, the opposite of “My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord…” is “My son, treasure thou the chastening of the Lord…” We know that God loves us and He deals with us as sons. That first phrase in verse 7 is a treasure and Christians should put value on it. “If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons;” Because the opposite of this is in verse 10 in which people especially those who are going through chastisement should be aware of and be sensitive to the Lord’s dealing.
(Hebrews 12:5- 8) “And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6- For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7- If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8-But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. God is chastening us not because He is unfaithful to us, but because He is faithful and faithful even unto the end. He hurt us now for us to avoid the hurts of the future which could be worse than we think. God’s dealing may hurt us but it could be for the best and for our best.
I like this phrase from the Bible which says, “Your iniquity and your sins will I remember no more…”
And if ever we have committed sins and we have displeased the Lord, God will always be there for us and His hands and His heart is always open to receive us and to forgive us of our sins.
(I John 1:7- 10) 7- “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8- If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9- If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10- If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
