FAITH IN THE MIDST OF THE STORM

02- 01- 11 MI DAILY DEVOTION
FAITH IN THE MIDST OF THE STORM
35- And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36-  And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37- And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38- And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39- And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40- And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41- And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
(Psalm 9:10) “And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.”
A little storm frightens us in some things that will not even touch us or destroy us in some sense. “When without are fightings, no marvel that within are fears.”  Most of our danger from outward troubles arises from the occasion they give for inward trouble. Matthew Henry
How these fears were silenced, Jesus rebuked the wind, the waves and the storm. When you think of your storms in life and all you see are those storms that scares you and disturb you and make you feel so troubled, but at the end Jesus would be there for you and will be there standing beside you and trying to rebuke the problems, your storms”
God wanted for them to know the Lord in a personal way. 40- And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41- And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” The Lord tried to encourage His disciples to be of good comfort in spite of the storms. The Lord enlightens the disciples so they could have a good Christian character in spite of the storms. The Lord tests the disciples so they could have a great Christian faith in spite of their storms in life.
He encouraged them against their fright and problems in life. In (Psalm 69:15- 17) 15- “Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me. 16- Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. 17- And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.”
