"The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham." (Matthew 1:1 KJV)

People knew Jesus as the son of the great Bible characters. When Jesus asked Peter this question... Was He experiencing an identity crisis? Could it be a psychological question or did it matter who He was to the people during His times? Is there a spiritual significant to Peter or to the future generations why Jesus asked this question? Or Jesus wants Peter to confess and to know who He (Jesus) really was to him and to the people. Thus, God the Father revealed it to Peter, because Jesus is more than just the son of the greats and He is more than a man, He is the Son of God! "15- He saith unto them,  But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."(Matthew 16:15, 16 KJV)
