Is alcoholism and addiction to wine or liquor a disease? Is it a psychological or mental sickness or just part of human culture? Speaking from my personal experienced; it is indeed an addiction, and a temptation to non drinker that can be overcome by letting God take control of your life. You have to give your heart and life to Jesus and let Him wipe away your addiction; not just in wine but in all kinds of sinful things and lifestyle.
In 2005- alcohol was the 3rd killer in the USA. It's the cause of liver cancer and cirrhosis, heart attack, brain cancer, pancreatic cancer, and other abdominal problems. These are just the physical damaged it has caused to millions of people already. How about the low esteem, low self respect, low self confidence, low moral values, etc... Notice what the former alcoholic said regarding strong drink and wine; "Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts."
