10- 21- 10 MI DAILY DEVOTION (Revelation 2: 19)
A RECAPITULATION OF THE CHRISTIAN’s ABC’s
19- “I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.”
Recapitulation means a concise summary
A- ACTIVATE YOUR FAITH (Hebrews 11: 1- 3; 6) 1- “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2- For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3- Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. 6- But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” You already have that faith when you accept Jesus in your heart. Our faith in God must be active and a working faith not a dead faith.
B- BE SINCERE WITH WHAT YOU DO FOR THE LORD. (Philippians 1: 10) “That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;” Sincerity for Paul is not a 1 time thing or temporary attitude towards God. For Apostle Paul; sincerity is for life. It is until the day of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Joshua 24: 14) “Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.”
C- COMMIT EVERYTHING TO GOD. When you commit everything to God, it would mean that we don’t have any hand on anything that you have laid on the feet of Jesus. When you offer your life, your talents, your burdens, your giving to God and whatever you may lay down in the feet of Jesus; they’re not yours, they’re in the hands of God already… everything belongs to God. (I Peter 5: 7) “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
D- DEVELOP YOUR GIFTS. It’s not about what you know and how much you know and how talented and gifted you are… it’s about your willingness to give up and be used of God. It’s about how willing you are to God as you let Him use you and how willing you are to give your talents and gifts to God and for His glory. (I Corinthians 12: 31; 14: 12) 31- “But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I unto you a more excellent way.” 12- Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.”
E- ENCOURAGE SOMEONE. It’s easier to get encouragement from someone than to encourage someone who is going through tough times. Sometimes you don’t have any word to say or you don’t know where to start. Using the right words to say and the issue of choice of words is 1 of the difficult things to do. Timing is another issue as you encourage a friend, church members or a counselee. To encourage someone in your circle or group means you’re playing a team work. (Isaiah 41: 7) “So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the soldering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.”
