“18- But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God:
for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his
covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”
Deuteronomy 8:18 KJV)
Henry Matthew wrote about Abraham and Lot’s
wealth and blessings according to Genesis chapter thirteen verses one to twelve;
“His wealth: He was very rich, v. 2. He was very heavy, so the
Hebrew word signifies; for riches are a burden, and those that will
be rich do but load themselves with thick clay, Hab. 2:6. There is a burden
of care in getting them, fear in keeping them, temptation in using them, guilt
in abusing them, sorrow in losing them, and a burden of account, at last, to be
given up concerning them. Great possessions do but make men heavy and unwieldy.
Abram was not only rich in faith and good works, and in the promises, but he
was rich in cattle, and in silver and gold.” (Henry Complete, Bible
Collection)
It’s good to be rich and prosperous; but
don’t trade your love ones for the sake of money or for love of money. Your
love ones are God’s gift to you. Money could be a cause of downfall to some...
Paul wrote; “9-But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and
into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10- For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted
after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many
sorrows.” (I Timothy 6:9-10 KJV)
