“9- For God is my witness,
whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I
make mention of you always in my prayers; 10- Making request, if by any means
now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto
you.” (Romans 1:9- 10 KJV)
Someone said; “Prayer and the Word of God are
inseparable, and should always go together in the quiet time of the inner
chamber.” The book of proverbs says; “He that turneth
away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.”
(Proverbs 28:9 KJV) What we need in our churches today is not more people or
better machinery, and great administration or programs; but prayerful Christians.
It’s not new organizational set up or more novel methods, but men whom the Holy
Ghost can use. They are the people with more serious prayer life; men and women
mighty in prayer. The Holy Spirit does not flow though methods but through men.
He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but people
of prayer.
It’s great to have plans, programs and goals, but
the best of all is to pray and pray more for our plans, our goals, and for
people to be anointed by the Lord. Mr. John R. Mott wrote; “Beginning the day
with a devotional Bible Study and Prayer equips a man for the day’s fight with
self and sin and Satan.” We should be like King David
who prayed in the morning at noon and at night. (Psalms 55:16-17) “16-As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save
me.17- Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he
shall hear my voice.”
