“7- Behold, he cometh with clouds;
and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds
of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8- I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the
ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the
Almighty.” (Revelation 1:7- 8 King
James Version)
This small group discussion of the
Lord Jesus Christ with His disciples has remarkable impact in the past, present,
and future generation. Jesus spent time with His disciples like what He did in
the Sermon on the Mount. These are the prophecies on the Mount of Olives about
His second coming with the details of what will happen before it occurs. The
Mount of Olives is a significant place, and I believe God has a purpose why He
bestowed to the disciples what He has in stored about the signs of the End
Times. (Matthew 24) We can observe here Jesus talked about the future of the
temple or the buildings, the ruins of both Jerusalem and the spiritual decay of
man, not sparing the fall of the generations to come before and after the
rapture.
Then, the disciples
with curiosity inquired; "Tell us, when
shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of Thy coming, and of the end
of the world?" They may have a little idea of the coming of Christ, and
the end of the world when they asked Him these questions. These are some of the
events in the history of men that never happened since creation. These are also
a very suspenseful question and answer portion in the times of Christ’s inner
circle. The disciples indeed had no idea of the impact that it does to the life
of the Jewish people and in the life of our generations. But all these must come
to pass before He comes to take the Christians, His very own away from this
adulterous generation. The prophet Zephaniah’s expectations of the coming days
is like the present Christian’s expectation of Christ’s coming and of the End
Times. “14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and
hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall
cry there bitterly. 15- That
day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and
desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick
darkness,” (Zephaniah 1:14- 15 KJV)
