The Abrahamic Covenant and Today’s Conflict in Israel

“2- Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. 3- Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.” (Joshua 1:2- 3 King James Version)

Israel is a nation from the seed of Abraham. Jacob was named “Israel” by God after he wrestled with Him as he tried to escape from the wrath of his brother Esau. (Genesis 32:21- 32) In the book of (Genesis 12:7; 13:15; 17:7- 8) are the records of the Abrahamic covenant, and it was confirmed again in (Genesis 22:15- 24) after the offering of Isaac to God by Abraham his father. And the Lord confirmed again His covenant to his people when Isaac blessed Jacob at Bethel after he strived deceitfully to get the blessing from his brother Esau (Jacob’s favorite) with the help of his mother Rebekah. (Genesis 28:1- 5) But before all these, God gave the promise of the inheritance to Moses already according to (Deuteronomy 30:1- 10). After the death of Moses, God talked to Joshua again about the land. (Joshua 1:1- 10)

On May 14, 1948, when the Jewish People’s Council in Tel Aviv Museum declared the establishment of the State of Israel as nation; it should not be a surprise to anyone who knows his Bible. It is not a surprise for Christians and those who know the Word if Israel will gain more land or occupy more land and power, because it was promised to them. The conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, between the Jews and Muslims has been there from the time of their fathers in the Scriptures. It is the fulfillment of the prophecies and the sign of the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God has promised- they will never win. The Bible says; “4- From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. 5- There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6- Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. (Joshua 1:4- 6 KJV)
