CHRIST IS OUR ADVOCATE

MI DAILY DEVOTION
TUESDAY
CHRIST IS OUR ADVOCATE (Matthew 16:21)
From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priest and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Notice the word must. He must go to Jerusalem and die. It was not just something that Jesus wants to do. It was not something that was on His list “to do”. And not even what He likes to do for the sake of doing it, but the thing that He must do. His trip to Jerusalem with the goal of meeting death on the cross of Calvary was God’s will and plan and was God’s way of redemption… and showing His love for mankind. Jesus was thinking of the Father above all. It was His obedience to the call and will of the Father. (Hebrews 5:1; 3-4) For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
No one can accomplish the task but Christ Himself. God the Father foreordained Christ even before the foundation of the world. No one can stand before God but the Lord Jesus Christ. And no one is able to do the task, but the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ is the only Messiah appointed and ordained by the Father to do the task. Christ is the Son of God. He is the Messiah and the second person of the holy trinity. We need to believe in Him, put our trust in Him and ask Him to forgive and cleanse us of our sins. My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: (I John 2:1)
