YOU CANNOT SERVE GOD AND MAMMON
(Matthew 6:24) No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
What is your mammon or who is your mammon? Each individual has its own mammon that hinders them in serving the Lord. It’s not easy for Christian politicians to be in the service of their constituent, country and at the same time serve God. It’s hard for the greedy to serve God because to some, their belly is their mammon. To those who lay up treasures on earth, their mammon could be their worldly riches and treasures. If you place honor, sports, self gratification, the praise and applause of men, power, politics in church, organization or secular politics ahead of God, then you are serving your personal mammon above Him. Anything or anyone that is in competition with Him, anything or anyone that is in contradiction to Him and anything or anyone that is place above Him are considered mammon. You cannot do that to God- Ye cannot serve God and mammon. We have to set aside our personal interest. You have to serve and love God above all. The only way for man’s service be acceptable to God is to serve Him with an acceptable heart. You cannot sail a boat in 2 different rivers, drive a car in 2 opposite roads or fly an airplane from 2 different airports, all at the same time. The Bible did not say; you must not, you should not, you will not or you would not; but you cannot…” It should be God and God alone. Joshua knows this principles back in the Old Testament when he said; And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:15)
