"Behold, To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice..."

“22- And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 23- For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. 24- And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.” (I Samuel 15:22- 24 King James Version) When we disobey God, we add unnecessary weight on our back. Your obedience to God and His Word can bring joy, peace, happiness and true satisfaction to your life and your family. In the book of John 14:15 it says; “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” If we put this in a negative way or the other way around, it would be- “If you don’t love me, you will not keep my commandments”. We obey Him because we love Him. The more we obey God the more we discover more of Him and of His love, of His freedom and His peace. We all know that God wants the best for us. He wants for us to experience His love, His goodness and His grace. We have Him when we obey Him. The starting point of our Obedience is when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. (John 1:12) We obey Him because we believe in Him, and we trust Him because we love Him. This may sound common or general, but we put this into practice in our every day practical living. We believe in our parents and obey them because we love them. We sacrificed for them and don’t listen to our voice, and to the voice of other people if we know it’s for our own good, it’s godly and in the Bible. You can’t mess around with your computer, cell phone or gadgets and get good results. If you trust your electronics, then you must do what it says on its manual and do exactly what it commanded you to do. This was the failure and downfall of King Saul in the Old Testament; he did not do Samuel and God’s Word told him to do. He disobeyed the voice of God and of Samuel. The prophet Samuel said; “Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?” (I Samuel 15:19 KJV)
