“But You Can’t Be Mad to a Baby!”

13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. 17- Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, 18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.” (Matthew 2:13; 16- 18 King James Version)

“He or she’s just a baby!” “You’re such a baby!” “Who will take care of the Baby?” Those are familiar phrases in many homes. Notice the common phrase in heaven and in Bethlehem during the birthday of a King- “Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” And that’s what the angels proclaimed when they sounded the sweetest message; “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12- And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:11- 12 KJV)

My words for people like King Herod- “But you can’t be mad to a baby!” The Baby that was born in a manger more than 2,000 years ago did not remain a baby and did not remain in a manger. He did not die at the cross and stay on that cross to see corruption; but He was buried only to rise from the dead after 3 days.

King Herod after he heard the news of Jesus being born in Bethlehem was so afraid that he declared to kill all the babies from 2 years old and under. During the times of Pharaoh who knew not Joseph; they also killed the babies. These are the kings and powerful people who were insecure, jealous, and furious or mad to the babies. Did it ring in your ears? It’s how common it is in many homes in the USA and in the government in many parts of the world, and even worst- they kill the fetus. But Jesus is more than just an ordinary baby. Isaiah wrote; “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6 KJV) -By Ely Roque Sagansay
