New Year's Message - Remember the Precious Time You Spent

Ecclesiastes 12:1 KJV
"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;"

We were freely given 365 days a year. It's 8,760 hours a year. We were commanded to honor and rest for 52 Sunday's on 2015. A minimum of 8 hours a day between 3 to 6 days a week of work in your job or business. You slept for 5 to 9 hours a day. And the rest are your driving time, leisure (watching tv or movies, sports, Internet, readings or writings) etc. But have you ever ask yourself of how much time you have spent for your family and love ones? Or, how much time did you spent for God last 2015? The year 2016 just touched down, and it's open for you. May you will consider spending time with your family, and most especially with God. - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

(Proverbs 31:1 KJV) "The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him."

I like this phrase; "that his mother taught him." But the word "taught" should catch our attention. Why? Because it is relevant or timely as we end this year (2015). We must evaluate, and scrutinize our life and what we have learned and what God has taught us this year. We can be taught and learn from an expert, from more experienced, from our parents and teachers, pastors and Sunday school teachers, from personal experience, and most especially from God and His Word. Have you refresh or examine, or ponder upon your heart and mind on what God or your parents have taught you this year-so you could be cautious and smarter as you enter the New Year? HAPPY NEW YEAR! -  By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 30:1 KJV "The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,"

I saw an interesting words in a sticker on the side of the truck before me which says; "Real men love Jesus". So are real women. The other one was "Real Men Have Words of Honor". Yes, so are real women. Agur's words made an impact to people around him and to the people after him. Are you spreading the words of wisdom or the wiles of the enemy? A single word from a very powerful and influential person can destroy or build another country or city. May this be our desire and prayers every day - (Psalm 19:14 KJV) "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord , my strength, and my redeemer." Read (Psalm 49:3). -  By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 29:1 KJV "He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy."

"Destroyed" is a good word to hear if what had been destroyed are the bad groups, the bad stuff, sinful things, and bad attitudes. But it's not good if it's home, organization, church, business, relationship or life. It's a blessing to know that our Lord came not to destroy lives but to give us eternal life. Jesus said; (John 10:10 KJV) "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." He came with a purpose and it was not to destroy but to save lives. The Bible says; (Luke 9:56 KJV) "For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them . And they went to another village." - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

(Proverbs 28:1 KJV) "The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion."

"Lions" are called the kings of the jungle because of their tenacity, audacity, courage, and strength, etc. The book of (Hosea 5:14 KJV) "For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him." Don't get me wrong, the Bible said, about the devil (as) a "lion" too, but only when he roars. It's just to scare his prey or if he has plan to get his desired victims. (I Peter 5:8) John said; (Revelation 5:5 KJV) "And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof." Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 27:1 KJV
"Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth."

Boasting comes in 2 different directions.- It's vertical and horizontal. It's boasting in God or boasting for self. Some people boast for self gratification and pride, while some for God and God alone. (II Timothy 3: 2; James 4: 16) They boast to honor the Lord. That's exactly what Apostle Paul did when he talked about what God did in his life as the Lord's servant. (2 Corinthians 10:8 KJV) "For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:" Read (II Corinthians 10: 9- 17) - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Words of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

(Philippians 2:8 KJV) "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."

Jesus has a humble beginning in a manger. He lives a life of humility and meekness. He lives in a carpenter's home and became one. He lived in a humble neighborhood. He died the most agonizing, disgraceful, and humbling death a righteous and holy man could have. He died on the cross, a death penalty deserving only for criminals, wicked and sinners. And He was buried in a borrowed tomb.

But when He comes back; He will be ushered by countless angels, with a big introduction of the trumpets' sound. First, He will come to take us home, and the second phase - He will come as a Judge. He will come (not with staff) but with a crown and a scepter. The staff is a symbol of authority over animals, it's  worldly, the scepter is heavenly. Are you ready? - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Christmas Message from Mi Daily Devotion

Jesus is the center of Christmas. John chapter three verse sixteen is the center and heart of the Bible. Calvary is the center and heart of the world. Our heart is the center and dwelling place of our personal sin; but if you're a Christian, it is the center and dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. "16- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17- For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." (John 3:16, 17 KJV)

On Christmas Day- Jesus is the center of the universal celebration. No other celebration in the world as joyous, generous, happiest, and amazing than Christmas! Merry Christmas Everyone! - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

"Name" is the most common word in the whole universe. We name the atmosphere, the stars, every part of the galaxies and the whole world. The living and non living things under the ocean and in the land has a name. We name our babies with the name of our choice. But there is a name which is above other names- be it in sports, in music, in business or politics- The Name Jesus is above all names. The Bible says; (Philippians 2:10 KJV) "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;"

The Bible says; "Acts 4:12 KJV) "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." The popular verses of Scriptures on Christmas story-Read (Matthew 1:18- 25) - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Stunned Colombia by Stripping of Crown for Miss Philippines

The Philippines is celebrating for the big and controversial win! The Colombians are in mixed emotions due to the so called (human mistake or error) by Steve Harvey. While at the back stage, in a conference room, in a corner or in a limousine the way I picture it- Mr. Steve Harvey may have been annoyed, contemplating, and wondering how in the world he made such a big mistake. Or may be discouraged by what happened at the stage... Was it a mistake or a pre-meditated Free Publicity dictated by the organizers of the Pageant?

I don't have the answer, you don't have the answer; but Mr. Steve Harvey has to answer all the questions- and for the damaged (emotional pain) it has done to Miss Colombia and the citizens of the said country. The Colombians and Miss Colombia were stunned and startled for the big announcement and of the awkward and big mistake of Mr. Steve Harvey. The Pageant organizers will definitely have to answer for the BIG mistake. Mr. Steve Harvey might have been briefed and instructed on which part of the card he should read or announce as the winner.

I felt sorry for Mr. Harvey, and I felt sorry for Miss Colombia , as well as for Colombia; but the true winner deserve to claim its prize, and get honor due for her. If it was an honest mistake, may the media and the whole world will learn to forgive Steve Harvey, and may the people of Colombians  will gladly accept the stripping of the crown that was not due for her- Miss Colombia .

Congratulations to all the contestants for making it to the Miss Universe Pageant. Just to be able to stand on that stage to represent your country is already an honor, and you are already a winner. Congratulations to Miss Philippines for being the best among the winner of winners. You made every Filipinos all over the world proud of you and proud of being a FILIPINO.

Proverbs 21:1 KJV
"The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord , as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will."

"Hand of the Lord". It speaks of God's blessings, God's protection, or it might point to God's judgment. But one thing that may reminds me of the word "hand" is God's hand is not short to save and forgive. The only reason why we can't be saved or forgiven is not because God's hand is short, but because of our sins and doubt. The Bible says; " (Isaiah 50:2 KJV) "Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst." Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 20:1 KJV
"Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."

W - waste of time, waste of money, and waste of life. Wine mocks, it's mean and manner killer.

I - Invites trouble, instigate sin, and instill dirty stuff to mind and bodies.

N- Narrows man's life, numbs man's whole being, and will never make you a better person.

E - Erratical in life style, endanger other people, evil  once drunk with wine. -   By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 19:1 KJV
"Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool."

There are people who are poor in financial or material wealth, but rich in spirit and love. There are those who are poor in wisdom and knowledge, but they're rich in something else... Some poor people are blessed with good, intellectual  and God loving children- while others have filled their children's desire with temporal goods but they're lacking of spiritual things. Someone's wealth is another man's poorness. Someone's riches may have been my deficiency and poverty. But I would rather be poor in the sight of man and rich in God's side. Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 18:1 KJV
"Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom."

According to Wikipedia; "A Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD or Ph.D.or DPhil[1]) or a Doctorate of Philosophy, from the Latin Doctor Philosophiae, - the term philosophy does not refer solely to the field of philosophy, but is used in a broader sense in accordance with its original Greek meaning, which is "love of wisdom". "

When Jesus was about 12 or under 12 years of age here on earth, the Bible says He was filled with wisdom. (Luke 2:40 KJV) "And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him." Before He was born, the prophet Isaiah gave Him the greatest name that was never given to an unborn... (Isaiah 9:6 KJV) "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 17:1 KJV
"Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife."

The Old Testament is covered with all kinds of sacrifices of all kinds of animals and birds. But it has changed at the fulfillment of Jesus' birth. Christmas season is always a season of love and giving, but it is actually a step to Christ's sacrifice for our sins. The Bible says; " (Matthew 1:21 KJV) "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." His sacrifice is for our salvation. His sacrifice at cross is the victory over sins. His sacrifice put an end to ceremonial sacrifices during the Old Testament times. The Bible says; (Hebrews 7:27 KJV) "Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself." Read (Hebrews chapters seven and eight). -  By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 16:1 KJV
"The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord ."

Preparations or prepared- that's what God did to man and for man. John prepared the way of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Old Testament speak about the coming birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. It also talked about the one who will prepare the way of Him Who will be born King of kings. Isaiah 40:3 KJV "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord , make straight in the desert a highway for our God." It was fulfilled through John- the cousin of Jesus in the flesh, the son of Elisabeth and Zacharias.

John said; (John 1:23 KJV) "He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias." You have preparations for Christmas but are you prepared for Christ of Christmas? Read (John 1: 15- 27 and Luke 1: 67- 80) - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 15:1 KJV
"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger."

"Christmas is a time to love, to cherish, to be a blessing, and to focus on Jesus. The Lord was born so we can live. He came to die for our sins. His birthday was the mark of something greater, which was His death, burial and resurrection, and His coming again. He took away the WRATH of God by His love that He showed on the cross of Calvary. Christ's birth was the door to Calvary. It was the key to erase the wrath of God to man. (John 3:36 KJV) "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 14:1 KJV
"Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands."

Woman should be the partner of a man in marriage but unfortunately some women are treated like servants or slaves. Men supposed to honor the women but unfortunately they (women) are being disrespected. The Lord said; (Genesis 2:18 KJV) "And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him." They are precious jewels and must be loved and treasured. (1 Peter 3:7 KJV) "Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered." - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 13:1 KJV
"A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke."

In this verse, the word "son" was referred to his son in the flesh as well as in the spirit or son in the faith. "Son" is a holy word when referred to the Lord Jesus Christ. It will be a sacrilege to overused or casually use the words "Son of God". Jesus is the Son of God, and His name was given by God the Father from the throne of heaven. (Matthew 1:21 KJV) "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." He is the ONLY reason for this greatest and universal celebration during the year- Christmas! (Read Matthew 1: 18- 25) - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 11:1 KJV
"A false balance is abomination to the Lord : but a just weight is his delight."

This world of sin is full of injustice and unfairness. We are living in a world where right becomes wrong and wrong becomes right to some people. Many people tolerate wickedness and becoming used to injustice and abused. We want to be treated justly and with good judgment. Our laws are filled with human knowledge and human errors, no wonder many have suffered for the sin they did not commit. But God is a just God and His judgment is righteous, because He is a righteous Judge. The book of proverbs says; "...but a just weight is His delight." The Bible says; (Hebrews 12:23 KJV) "To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect," Read (Romans 3:26). - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 10:1 KJV
"The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother."

"Glad" is a nice word to hear. It's nice to hear someone would say to you; "I'm glad you're..." Or say; "I'm glad you're here..." It's even nicer if someone will encourage you to do things and we're glad you're doing it the best you can. But going back more than 2,000 years ago before Jesus was born in the flesh could be more encouraging. It was when the angel Gabriel appeared to Zacharias before the birthday of the King- notice the delivered message for the whole world from God in this verse; (Luke 1:19 KJV) "And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings." Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 8:1 KJV
"Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?"

I think of "vocal voice" or music when I hear of the word "voice". We associate voice to many things. It could be something about rights to be heard, it could be someone's rights to due process or just a plain talk or the transmitting of voice recording into the Internet, and broadcast. But your tone of voice could upset, discourage, or hurt someone without your knowledge. By the tone of one's voice; anyone can determine if he or she is angry, hurt, in pain or disturbed. One thing that I want people to be sensitive with is on the voice of the Holy Spirit of God speaking in the heart of man. (Revelation 3:20 KJV) "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 7:1 KJV
"My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee."

"Keep" may send a negative message to others or it could be good news to some. If someone will tell you- "Keep the bountiful blessings...", then, I bet you know what I mean. But on the negative side; if someone will say; "You cannot keep that bountiful blessings from me..." It's absolutely bad news! But when the Scriptures says; "Keep my Words or Commandments..." It does not mean to just store it but also to keep on putting it into practiced. You have to use it and exercise your faith based on the Word of God- the Bible. It means you keep it and treasure it in your lifetime. The Bible says; (Psalm 119:33 KJV) "Teach me, O Lord , the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end." Read Psalm 119:57- 100. - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 6:1 KJV
"My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,"

Strange and stranger are two good words to identity us with God. If we are stranger or a foreigner in a certain land or country; for sure there will be some strange thing, strange language or dialect, or the weird food and culture. While waiting for my flight, I overheard the 2 ladies who were looking for the best spot to rest. One of the ladies found her comfort zone and said; "Let's sit here and act like we're strangers". Apostle Paul mentioned about us (Christians) being strangers with promised. (Ephesians 2:12 KJV) "That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:" Read (Ephesians 2:19) - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 5:1 KJV
"My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:"

God Alone can give us the spirit of understanding. "Understanding" could be on our side and advantage when we read and explore what God has for us based in His Word and will for our life. That's what many people are longing for- understanding. A spouse who is in a verge of divorce seek it. A student who go through tough times at school or work or might have been bullied by classmates or school mates desires it. And a person in need of love, care and compassion also needs understanding. The Bible says;  (Proverbs 16:16 KJV) "How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!" - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

(Proverbs 4:1 KJV)
"Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding."

"Hear" "Listen" "Take heed" "Give ear" may have some similar meanings but God expect good and fruitful results. It's an obvious reason why God bids us or commanded us to hear, listen, and obey His voice and instructions. He wants us to be in His will by giving Him our ears for His Word. To listen and hear Him (God) speak will help us gain His wisdom. Be open, and try to have an open ear and an open heart. If our attitude were like of Samuel the prophet... The Bible said; (1 Samuel 3:10 KJV) "And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth." "God Isn't Fixing This"- New York Daily News

"God Isn't Fixing This" New York Daily News- It's true, God will not fix a problem of an individual, a family, or a nation filled with sins and unbelief. God the Father in heaven will not fix the problem of the nation who closed their doors on Him (God the Father). He will not fix the problem of the nation who embrace immorality and anti God, anti - Christ, and anti Bible. This is a nation that clings to sins and opposed the holiness and righteousness of God. (Proverbs 14:34 KJV)Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people." God will not fix the problem of an individual, family or a nation filled with pride and arrogance. (2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV) "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

And will not fix this problem because instead of you (New York Daily News) pray to God, you attack Him with non sense. Instead of using your pen and paper, lap top or computers and influence to help, you're bringing discouraging news to people whose hope is in the Lord. Change your mind set and your outlook. Read and search the truth from the Word of God, and stop pointing your fingers to God but to yourself... God have mercy!

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 3:1 KJV
"My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:"

Not everyone wants to be a law abiding citizen of their own country or countries - some people have double citizenships. The "Law" is one way of putting order in the land. We are all under the law of the land, on the other side of the coin, the land is under its own laws. The law must be practiced, obeyed, and it involves ceremony or ceremonies as what the Old Testament teaches in the Bible during its times. There were sacrifices and offerings involved as well. The good news is we are now under grace. Grace is from God, it is of God, in God, with God, and only God can give. We were saved by His grace through the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 2:1 KJV
"My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;"

The word "receive" is associated with give, share, and sacrifice. God gave us His only Son, He shared the Word of God to us, and sacrifice in our behalf. Giving could be conditional, sacrificial or out of love. The old proverb I heard when I was in the Philippines- "You cannot give without loving and you cannot love without giving." But the best thing in life is to receive, and to get something for free. God did all the giving. We are always the recipient of His generosity and love. The best thing to receive from God is eternal life in heaven through Jesus Christ.  (Colossians 2:6 KJV) "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:" - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 1:1 KJV
"The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;"

Israel may be small in its geographical area, but the nation is big in the heart of God. The Philippines is a pro Israel country. The United States of America used to be 100% pro Israel, but now it seems to be dancing around with the (political) music from the Middle East. The Jews are God's chosen people. If you're not a Jew then you're a Gentile. From the Old Testament up to this present time, Israel's history is known for its greatness. No nation will be able to stand against her because God's protection is upon them even from the time of Moses, Joshua, up to this time. God's promise to the people of God; (Joshua 1:5 KJV) "There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 30:1 KJV
"The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,"

Words taken and claimed from the Bible and it's prophecies are powerful Words. The life changing Words from the Lord that God alone can make a difference even in the life of the chief among sinners are God's gift to man. It's truly a blessing to know that what God hath promised will surely come to pass or He will surely fulfill everything He said in the past- in What He prophesied in the Bible.  I am encouraged to know that Jesus promised us of God's eternal life. The Bible says; (John 3:36 KJV) "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." -  - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Proverbs 29:1 KJV
"He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy."

King Pharaoh during the times of Moses hardened his heart to the voice of God and the words of the prophet of God- Moses. (Exodus 7:14; 22) King Agrippa, Festus, and  the governor hardened their hearts on the preaching of Apostle Paul. (Acts 26:28) Stephen's last words was rejected by the crowd in spite of his prayers- they hardened their hearts. (Acts 6:9; 7:1- 59) The sad things is, God will not always strive with men. Genesis 6:3 KJV "And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years." - By Ely Roque Sagansay

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

Proverbs 28:1 KJV
"The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion."

If we will ask the Lord to address us (human beings) or give us an acceptable or decent title or titles; the answer is 'nothing good in us'. He will call us creations, human, sinful, wicked and sinners. There's nothing good in us, and we fall short of God's holiness and in His standard to righteousness. The Bible says; (Proverbs 28:1 KJV) "The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion." God declared men as wicked and sinners after the fall. (Genesis 3:1- 24) The Bible says; (Genesis 13:13 KJV) "But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly." In spite of our spiritual condition, God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die on the cross for our sins and salvation. (Romans 5:8- 12) - By Ely Roque Sagansay

The common expression of thankfulness, appreciation or gratitude:

1- I thank God for the blessing/s.
2- I appreciate my family and love ones.
3- I thank God for my friends.
5- I'm grateful for my job.
6- I thank the Lord for the good health and healthy children.
7- I'm thankful for the good or great business.
8- I'm thankful for the salvation I have in God through Christ.
9- I'm thankful for the house/home.
10- My utmost gratitude to my good boss.
11- I'm thankful because I'm out of debt and I have money in the bank.
12- I'm thankful for the happiness.

Don't get me wrong, these are all great and we must be thankful for all of these... But what if...? What if you're not happy today? What if you're in debt, you have no money in the bank, and the bank is closing your business or you are in the process of foreclosure? What would be the spirit of thanksgiving in your life, in your home or in your heart? Will your attitude of gratitude be the same when everything is not going well with you and your whole household?

Let's not be negative, but I want for you to visit the other side of the road. I want for you to visit your imagination and look at others who may be in the opposite side of what you have been grateful or thankful for this "Thanksgiving Day". Would you be thankful in spite of broken dreams, broken cars, broken relationship or if you have a broken heart? It's so easy to be thankful when there's food on the table, the bank account is positive, and the relationship is sweet.

Let's feel the pain of others and be there for them. Let's walk with the spouses who were separated due to the call of duty, most especially for our soldiers and cops who were out there defending our country, for our safety and freedom. Let's feel the pain of an empty stomach of the children and others  who are starving to death at the other side of the globe. Let's pray for those whose dad or mom has to turn their back from each other through divorce; not realizing that Christmas and New Year will have an empty chair waiting for them.

Thanksgiving is great when it's about: "I thank..." "I appreciate..." "I'm grateful..." "My gratitude..." Is it only when it's centered on "I" "Me" "My"? We don't want to center thanksgiving to "I" "Me" and "My" but to God and others. My Sunday school teacher when I was a little boy shared to us the acronym of JOY- Jesus, Others, You. The JOY of Thanksgiving is about Jesus, Others and You. The odd part of the celebration is the materialism with all the offers and sales that distracted millions of people from the true essence and element of Thanksgiving Day.

Let's REFOCUS our outlook, and let's scrutinize our hearts and motivation in our personal celebration of "Thanksgiving Day". May we will make it a "Thanksgiving Every Day" no matter what our circumstances we may have from day to day. God bless you all and HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY EVERYONE! - By Ely Roque Sagansay

The History of Thanksgiving

According to Wikipedia; "On December 04, 1619, 38 English settlers arrived at Berkeley Hundred, which comprised about 8,000 acres (3,200 ha) on the north bank of the James River, near Herring Creek, in an area then known as Charles Cittie, about 20 miles (32 km) upstream from Jamestown, where the first permanent settlement of the Colony of Virginia had been established on May 14, 1607.

The group's charter required that the day of arrival be observed yearly as a "day of thanksgiving" to God. On that first day, Captain John Woodlief held the service of thanksgiving. As quoted from the section of the Charter of Berkeley Hundred specifying the thanksgiving service: "We ordaine that the day of our ships arrival at the place assigned for plantacon in the land of Virginia shall be yearly and perpetually kept holy as a day of thanksgiving to Almighty God."[9]" (www.wikipedia.org)

It was during the times of the most revered and respected president of the United States of America- president Abraham Lincoln when "Thanksgiving Day" was declared as an annual tradition and celebration in 1863. In spite of the civil war and the conflicts between the north and the south, the racial discrimination and the war against poverty as well as the power struggle; Mr. Lincoln declared and proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens".

I wonder what would be in the minds of millions of people who are celebrating "Thanksgiving Day" every last Thursday of November. I have been thinking of their mind set as in term of celebrating it with a right perspective and purpose. What in President Abraham Lincoln's mind when he first proclaimed the last Thursday of November as the national "Thanksgiving Day" could be different from the people’s mind set during these times. And what could be in the minds of other presidents after him? Some may celebrate it for the sake of American culture and tradition. Others may celebrate Thanksgiving Day just to go with the flow, but some could really be serious of the occasion with praise and thanksgiving in their hearts. Thanksgiving is not just a presidential declaration or proclamation, it's something that must be received and celebrated with joy, and with a serious and positive mind set about the occasion.

According to the Bible History

Is there a specific story in the Bible that could make us conclude that Thanksgiving Day has a Biblical origin? Is there a verse or a chapter in the Scriptures that we may claim as the origin of Thanksgiving Day in the Bible? We were told to be thankful by the Lord, by Apostle Paul, and in the whole Scriptures; but to claim of a specific event in the Bible is not clear enough. In Genesis 2:1- 3 it says; "1- Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2- And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3- And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." (Genesis 2:1-3 KJV) It says on verse two that "God ended his work... He rested on the seventh day..." That's exactly what God wanted for us to do. He gave us six days to work and do whatever we need to do to help our family and to fill our daily needs; but God wanted for us to rest on the seventh day. It's the time God intended for us to be at rest with Him in worship and thanksgiving. Prayer and worship must come with thanksgiving to God. It's the time of giving of thanks to God for what He has done and what He will be doing in our lives during our fellowship together with Him. The Bible said; "24- And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25- Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." (Hebrews 10:24, 25 KJV)

Apostle Paul wrote; "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." (2 Corinthians 9:15 KJV) What do you think Paul have in mind when he wrote this part of his Epistle to the Corinthian church? In verse one, Apostle Paul mentioned about their ministry to the saints or fellow believers. It's something that I am thankful to God when I'm doing something for His church or God's people. It is an honor to be of service to the King of kings and to His servants. We may not always have this kind of opportunity in the kingdom of God. But Apostle Paul also mentioned of the forwardness of their mind and their zeal. Notice verse "2-  For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many." (2 Corinthians 9:2 KJV) These are little things with great impact in the Lord's kingdom and in the life of His saints. We should be thankful to God for little things that we've done and we are doing for the Lord of which only eternity could tell of how it may have worked and may have moved the life of those around us.

Now in verse 5, Paul was talking about the bountiful blessings that they have from the Lord. Have you ever thought of why God is blessing you with so much? Have you ever thought of why God placed the under privilege in your path? Or have you ever thought of why God opened the door of unspeakable blessings to you of which could be beyond your imagination? If you would think of the good paying job, the good health and all the goodies that others may not even have in their whole life time… and being thankful should be your first on the list. After all the positive traits and positive things Paul said about the believers; he expounded to them the Lord's principles- the principle of sowing and reaping.

Notice the following verses; "6- But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7- Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8- And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 9- (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. 10- Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) 11- Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. 12- For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God; 13- Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men; 14- And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you. 15-Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." (2 Corinthians 9:6-15 KJV)

A thankful individual is a giving individual in spite of difficulties and negative circumstances in life. If you check out and study the personality of churches and people that has been blessed with so much are those who give in spite of... What is your attitude toward God and His people or His church in term of your service in giving? We can easily get distracted with money and blessings and forget about the source and provider of such. And we must have the right attitude toward His church in our giving of our tithes and offering as well as our giving for the cause of missions. We may also easily get discourage by the uncontrolled circumstances around us. Sometimes the only encouragement we have in God is His righteousness and His holiness. In God's attributes, we can surely give tribute and be consistently grateful for Who He is in our lives. (Psalm 97:12) When David was the king of Israel; he encouraged his people to give thanks to God and David mentioned of the greatness and attribute of God in his prayers. He did the same thing during the time when they brought the Ark of the Covenant and when they offered the sacrifices and the burnt offering. (I Chronicles 16:1- 43)

This may not be a big deal to other religious groups, but to Christians; this should be received and shared with seriousness. We can commit the sin of sacrilege if we offered and worship God with complaint and with ungrateful hearts. David even appointed the Levites to minister, record and to thank the Lord as recorded in verse 4. In I Chronicles 16:7 it says; "Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the Lord into the hand of Asaph and his brethren." It's a blessing to know that David's first point in his sermon and worship songs composition was about gracefulness, thankfulness or giving of thanks to God. It's very compelling to read the following verses- Once you read verse 8, you can't stop reading the preceding verses of this book and chapter. The power of the Word of God… The joy of reading and meditating on David's attitude... And the people's response to the Lord in worship and thanksgiving was amazing.

The grace of God which abound toward us and the sufficiency that we have in Christ, and in all that God has bestowed upon us for His purpose and are geared toward good works on our part. The ministry is a blessing in itself but there is no greater blessing than to have the Lord's hands and presence in our work for Him. We should be thankful to God for the ministry that He entrusted us.

To the Corinthian and Macedonian churches; it should be geared to the Apostles teachings, philosophy and principles of teachings in giving and handling of God's blessings. It is to be grateful and learn to pay it forward. Even the CEO of many huge earner companies practice such principles and philosophy. To be grateful is to be charitable in some ways. If you can't be charitable you could be miserable. A grateful heart is a giving heart.

Some people are just waiting, longing and looking for charities and gifts while others are working hard to be a part of it. Some people are used to receiving a gift or be a recipient than to be a part of sharing and giving.

A Heartfelt Gratitude

The great Job of the Old Testament went through a roller coaster of pain, suffering, trials, rejection, and criticism. In spite of what he went through, he maintained a rightful attitude and a grateful spirit with God. In his hopeless situation he wrote in Job 17:15; “And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?” (KJV) It’s the same question people from many parts of the world are asking. And many of them asked this kind of question after they are at the end of their rope, because of believing in false hopes.

We placed our hopes on people, on human wisdom, strength, and capabilities; leaving God on the sideline watching us play our own game bound to destruction. It’s not that God don’t care about us, but it’s because we ignore Him and what He can do to us. And if God will do something great in our lives; we have the tendency to overlook Him and be grateful to Him. And because of this prevalent attitude of men as well as my unconsciously ungrateful attitude of what God has done and have been doing in my life; I listed 5 things in my electronic journal regarding the things that I should be thankful to God for… but I will just share to you 2 of my top heartfelt gratitude to God.

I Express My Heartfelt Gratitude to God for the Hope that I Have in Christ. The world may place their hope in things or people, but you cannot deny the truth that salvation is from God in Christ. I thank the Lord because my salvation is not based in religion, as we all know that religion and religious denominations has failed us in many ways. I praise God because it’s not seated or standing in the sand or in the hands of man; but my salvation and my hope is in Christ- the solid ground and the only Savior of the world. My hope is not in man but in God. And I wish everyone will have the same hope and the same gratitude in God our Savior. The Bible says; “13- Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14- Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” (KJV) Apostle Paul wrote; “23- And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. 24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?” (Romans 8:23- 24 KJV)

I Express My Heartfelt Gratitude to God for My Home with Christ in the Center.
Joshua could be known to many as the second man of Moses, a warrior, and a faithful servant of the Lord. Joshua was also a family man. I believe he loves his family and he has his family’s support. Joshua’s family faithfully served with him in his work for God. No wonder he has the authority to say these… “14- Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. 15- And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:14- 15 KJV)
We don’t have a perfect home and I don’t have a perfect family, but one thing for sure; Jesus is the head, and the driver of our little house and our Christian home. He is the King and the wisdom of every decision we make. I thank the Lord because I know Christ is in the heart of my children and I’ve watched them try to live a Christ centered life as they grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually. They serve the Lord with me in my church and ministries. I have a loving wife who loves and serve our Lord in so many ways.

A beautiful phrase I got from a wall décor in one of the house I visited says; “My house is small. No mansion for a millionaire, But there is room for love and there is room for friends, that’s all I care.”- Unknown – HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Word of Wisdom from Mi Daily Devotion

"Proverbs 25:1 KJV
"These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out."

Kings and kingdoms are inseparable. You cannot have a king without a kingdom- and vice versa. King Hezekiah was one of the best king but he has his own flawed and failures. He was a man of God and he obeyed the Word of God. God's kingdom needs a man who is willing to stand for him. God is looking for a man who will represent Him. One of the saddest verse in the Bible. Ezekiel 22:30 KJV "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none." You don't need to be a king to represent God. Would you be that man or woman? -  By Ely Roque Sagansay

Proverbs 24:1 KJV
"Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them."

Evil is widespread wherever you are. Be it in Urban area or Rural area; the face of evil, and the damaged it has done on people and family circles are undeniable. Evil men, evil deeds, evil practices, evil thoughts, and evil desires, etc. affects the way we live. People are screened at the airport, identification were asked even if you put money to your own account, and there are securities, and CCTV's for protection and prevention against unforeseen evil. But it's odd that many evil men are succeeding and prospering in their evil deeds. (Mark 7:21- 23) - By Ely Roque Sagansay
