ATONEMENT IN THE LIGHT OF THE SCRIPTURES

04- 17- 11 MI DAILY DEVOTION (Galatians 4:3- 5)
ATONEMENT IN THE LIGHT OF THE SCRIPTURES
3- “Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: 4- But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5- To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.”
When the first man (Adam) was in the Garden of Eden, he stood before God in perfect position or sinless condition. The first man has all the gift of freedom and freewill in the Garden.  Until one day he committed sin when he yielded to Satan’s temptation, then things began to be different for him. He broke the law and became a servant of sin and Satan. Let us study Atonement in the light of the Scriptures:
1- Atonement in the person of God the Father. (Galatians 4:4) “But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,”
2- Atonement in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Galatians 3:26- 29) “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27- For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28- There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29- And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
3- Atonement in the person of the Holy Spirit of God. (Galatians 4:6- 9) 6- “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. 8- Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. 9- But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?”
The Holy Spirit’s part to us Christians was when we first came to Christ by faith and He (the Holy Spirit) continues to work in us and through us as we live the Christian life and in fellowship with God. Atonement is the work of the Holy Trinity. It was the Holy Trinity’s planned and work for the redemption of men. It was God’s desire to save us and to forgive us of our sins. (John 16:7- 8; 13) 7- “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8- And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:  13- “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.”
