WHAT IS FAITH?

04- 03- 11 MI DAILY DEVOTION (Hebrews 11:1)
WHAT IS FAITH?
1- “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
F- Faith is stepping on God’s plan and will by taking His Word and living by it while you’re leaving the results to God by His grace. (Hebrews 11:1-3) 1- “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2- For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3- Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Therefore, faith is taking an action to God’s Word and God’s perfect plan and will.
A- Act in faith and with hope that God can do it for you and He will do it in His perfect time and will. Apostle James said that we need to exercise our faith by showing the world our good works. (James 2:17- 20) 17- “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18- Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works. 19- Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20- But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” Faith therefore is taking an action to God’s living Word and making it alive in us as we live accordingly and faithfully by exercising our good testimony. Our lives if lived by faith will actually inspire other Christians to do the same.
I- Inspiration in the theological term is God- breathed (II Timothy 3:16) “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” We can be an inspiration to Christians as we let the Lord’s Word come alive in us and through us by making our faith in Him works as we trust and obey.
T- Trust is important and necessary to many especially in our walk with God. (Proverbs 3:5- 6) 5- “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6- In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” A beautiful Hymn about trust by John H. Sammis and Marc Hedlin:
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word
What glory He sheds on our way
While we do His good will
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey,
For there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.”

H- Help, we need help and we need the help of God, so it’s for our best if we put our trust in Him. We can please Him with that act of faith. (Hebrews 11:6) “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
