CHRISTmas IN THE LIGHT OF THE SCRIPTURES

MI DAILY DEVOTION
MONDAY
CHRISTmas IN THE LIGHT OF THE SCRIPTURES
(Isaiah 9:6) “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
The prophecy of Isaiah was 600 years before the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. But we know that it was prophesied not to prove that the Bible is true or the absolute truth, because even before Isaiah’s prophecy, God mentioned Him on (Genesis 3:15) already. The fulfillment of the prophecy about the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ is the reason why we celebrate CHRISTmas. Compare (Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:21) 14- “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”  21- “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Therefore; CHRISTmas is being practiced in many parts of the world. Some people are anxious of celebrating CHRISTmas because of so many reasons except for those who know the true meaning of CHRISTmas. The true Biblical account of CHRISTmas and the true essence of CHRISTmas are different from the world’s mind set. CHRISTmas is more commercialized and centered on animals, Santa Claus, old saint nick, the gifts and the 3 kings. In the Philippines, to some CHRISTmas is about food on the table, caroling, CHRISTmas bonus and a beautiful CHRISTmas tree or lantern. There’s nothing wrong with us practicing the culture, the tradition and other practices during CHRISTmas day, but don’t forget the true Spirit of the celebration by focusing on the Celebrant- the Lord Jesus Christ. What is the true message of CHRISTmas for you? How would you express that love and forgiveness that God had showed us in the Scriptures on that first CHRISTmas day? (John 3:16)
