“THE PASSOVER”, HIS BIRTHDAY?

MI DAILY DEVOTION
FRIDAY
“THE PASSOVER”, HIS BIRTHDAY?
(John 12:1; 20- 21) 1- “Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.”
I heard a story about a boy who was celebrating a huge birthday party. Everyone was busy, excited and having a good time. They have food, drinks on the table, unwrapped gifts, good music and a great festive. And then the dad went to the microphone and asked; where is John my son, the birthday celebrant? It was a total misery because they were celebrating the birthday party without the birthday celebrant. It’s a good picture of what happened during the Passover. While the Jews were celebrating the feast, they forgot about the celebrant and the reason for the celebration. It’s a picture of our present CHRISTmas celebration. I wonder what could be in the Lord’s heart and mind when He looks down from heaven every CHRISTmas day. We have all this great celebration all over the world, but we missed the point. The Greeks went to the Jewish celebration only to end their search for Him. In this great feast, the celebrant was there but unknown to the crowd. It’s so unfortunate to know that they celebrate the feast of the Passover, but they ignore the Lamb. The Passover was supposed to center on the Lamb, but they could not even find Jesus and others don’t know Him. (John 12:21) “The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.” Who do you worship; the celebration or the celebrant? The heavenly Hosts, the shepherds, the wise men, Mary and Joseph know Him (Jesus) and they worship Him on that first CHRISTmas day. How about you? Jesus is lost in the crowd, in His own birthday! Verses 20- 21; “And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: 21- The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.”
