THE PRINCE OF PEACE IN A MANGER

MI DAILY DEVOTION
SATURDAY
THE PRINCE OF PEACE IN A MANGER
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

Dr. Billy Graham in his book “Peace with God” wrote; “Peace can be experienced only when we have received divine pardon- when we have been reconciled to God and when we have harmony within, with our fellow man and especially with God.” People all over the world are willing to write a check, pay a huge amount of money (only if the funds are available) to acquire inner peace and peace of mind. “And the way of peace have they not known:” (Romans 3:17) Jesus is our only source of peace. Six times in the New Testament Jesus is called the God of peace. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”(Romans 5:1) We have wars in many countries including civil wars, war between siblings and love ones, war between husbands and wives and war at churches. The greatest war that is very active right now is between God and man. It’s between God’s Holiness and man’s wickedness. The other one could be the war between God and Satan and our warfare with the enemy as God’s children. Notice what Paul said; “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7) We need the peace of God because He is the God of peace. We need the Holy Spirit because He is the Spirit of peace. And we need the Lord Jesus Christ because He is the Prince of peace. “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:14)
