“Let no man deceive himself. If any man
among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may
be wise. 19- For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is
written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 20- And again, The Lord
knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.”
(I Corinthians 3:18- 20 King James Version)
Webster’s Dictionary- “Fool” means “one destitute of
reason; a simpleton; a silly person; a buffoon; to play the look; to trifle; to
make a fool of; to deceive.”
There’s nothing wrong to have fun, to laugh, smile
and enjoy the sun, because the joy-filled hearts drive the burdens and dry
bones away, but foolishness and ways that’s out of control and ungodly are the things
to beware. We must be happy but avoid the kind of fun which leads to sin and
disgrace or the things that displeased the Lord. Young people and young
Christians are prone to Satan’s deception and temptation. The enemy has always
something enticing to offer to the world of sin. We foolishly follow the
fleshly desires of our heart, only to realize at the end that we were fooled by
the devil.
Foolishness is a choice and it’s a bad choice that
can lead to sin and pain to ourselves and to others. We can be fools for
nothing or be fools for the Lord Jesus Christ. You have a choice to be a fool
for Satan or be a fool for God and His Word. The foolishness of the world and
its pleasures are displeasure in the sight of God. Pleasing the world will not
spare you from negative criticism, the same way when you please your Lord and
Master. Apostle Paul wrote; “Because that, when they
knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain
in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” (Romans
1:21 KJV)
